Сюжет подается через обрывки информации, найденные в лесу, и заставляет игрока самостоятельно собирать воедино картину происходящего. Это увлекательный процесс, который держит в напряжении до самого конца. Несмотря на некоторые шероховатости в управлении и балансе, 'Curse of the Great Forest' оставляет после себя сильное впечатление. "Curse of the Great Forest" is an extremely poorly made 2D retro pixel (sigh) top down shooter where you control some Robin Hood dude in a forest shooting pixel blobs with a pixel blob bow. Gameplay is mostly wave survival stuff and wrestling with the thought that someone, somewhere thought it would be completely okay to publish something this garbage on a platform with over one hundred million people logging on regularly. The game is really simple and unambitious in terms of implementation, more of a tech demo or one of those cases where an amateur developer spends $100 to publish something on Steam Direct to see if it's possible. Yes, obviously it's possible. A proof of concept, tech demo, or something that's less than a little blip on the radar isn't offering anything truly valuable to gamers. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers…

The writing isn't the best, but I can ignore it if the game has good gameplay. However, the gameplay is okay at best. The firing time takes too long. The difficulty curve is way too steep. On normal difficulty, when I figured out the game, the first level was fairly easy, and I'm not sure the second level is even possible on normal difficulty. On top of all that, the controls are unintuitive, and there's not even a tutorial. Also, the daytime colors are blindingly bright and saturated.
