Dagon: by H. P. Lovecraft

[b]I came for a good story and horror. I left disappointed.[/b] I knew this was a short, story-focused experience, not a traditional game. No problem. Unfortunately, the story was so lifeless, the narration so monotonous, and the atmosphere so dull that I was bored from the very beginning. I kept waiting for something to grab my attention, scare me, or make me feel [i]anything[/i]. It never happened. The one highlight? A room with handwritten letters that actually looked interesting. Naturally, you can't read them. Because why let the player interact with the most interesting thing in the game? For a game that relies entirely on telling a story, I feel like this was a huge missed opportunity. And horror? I've had scarier experiences listening to someone read a terms and conditions agreement. Honestly, I don't understand how this qualifies as horror. The atmosphere never delivered on that promise. It's free, it's an easy 100%, and it's certainly short. But even then, I didn't feel my time was well spent. [b]I'm glad others enjoyed it, but I'm genuinely baffled by the overwhelmingly positive reviews. This one's a thumbs down from me.[/b]

Fun concept. More of an interactive audio book than a true game, but if you're a fan of H.P. Lovecraft or the genre it's worth playing.

As a true and devoted fan of Lovecraft, I was enchanted by this dive into his short tale, 'Dagon'. The challenge of finding hidden trivia bits was quite fun. I missed two and now I shall have to return to replay the "game". I'm quite eager to do this as I genuinely want to savor the atmospheric recreation of Lovecraft's story all over again.

"Supports your Xbox controller" It does not, and I tried 3. Keyboard and mouse controls are what you'd expect but the camera moves too sporadically.
