About DALDZAH

DALDZAH is a bedtime story about combining the traditional with the modern and uniting the divided. A kaleidoscope of the grandeur and beauty of the North Caucasus.

DEATH IS NO MORE

The Daughter of the Sun destroyed the cradle of death. Death is no more, leaving only the undead Namalats. The Child runs away from home to return the forgotten amulet to father and meet mother at the top. The mountain guides the child through places of worship. The child warms his way, learns about the past, present and future, reunites the mountain and the family.

MASH1O, THE CHILD OF DARKNESS, SUN, AND MANKIND

Interact with the world as a playful child
Mash1o is a small flame born of the blood of a Great Warrior, the light of the Daughter of the Sun and the darkness of the Lord of Death. And his legs burn as he runs. Warm the space by running in circles. Burn all obstacles on the way by dashing.

JOURNEY THROUGH DEITIES

Mountain changed with death gone
Mash1o visits 7 abodes, meeting deities from North Caucasian pagan religions and helping them with their problems. His path takes him through:
  • Ruins of the Land of the Dead, the abode of the Ossetian lord of death Barastyr
  • Tower Town, the abode of the Vainakh goddess of country Mehka-nana
  • Sun Fields, the abode of the Abazian goddess of bees Gwynda and the Abkhazian goddess of fertility Dzhadzha
  • Dried Great River’s Riverbed, the abode of the Vainakh goddess of water Hi-nana
  • Dark Broken Sky, the abode of the Kabardino-Balkarian deity of the sky Kek Teyrisi and the Adyghe incarnation of lightning Schyble
  • The Place of Sun and Moon, the abode of the Ossetian god of manhood Uastyrdzhi
  • The Top of Mountain, the abode of the Ossetian goddess of sun Atzyruhs

REMINISCENCES OF THE DEATH

The fragments of the world gone
The mythical past bursts into the present with a haze before the eyes of Mash1o. The mountain itself tells of the gods, the past of Mash1o's parents and the effects of death's destruction on the world.

"DALDZAH" is a poorly made third person adventure game with particularly bad illustrations and MS-Paint tier textures slathered on low poly environments. At least it seems to be genuinely made? Unfortunately, genuine intentions alone aren't sufficient to provide an excellent gaming experience. This third person game has you running around the north causases to solve some issues for some folklore gods or something. I can see why the folklore never caught on as much as the greek/hellenic/norse/english stuff did. But the poor quality of the game is really what breaks this one. In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals with the aformentioned MS-Paint textures, which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and while some developers struggle with creating high quality visuals, failing to do so is a disservice to gamers. It's very difficult to recommend bad looking games. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game…

This game has a beautiful handmade art that adds comfort to the gaming experience. The backstory unfolds as you progress, although the text speed can sometimes be too fast to actually be able to read it completly. The music enhances immersion, making you feel more connected to the chapter (eventho, in the third chapter, the bees' volume may be overly loud). While it's likened to exploration games like "Journey," it's more linear, with limited exploration options and potential for getting stuck if you actually try to explore outside of the path. Despite some bugs, it shows it's a nice game with a calming atmosphere and engaging story. I've only played 10 minutes so far, and I already love this game. Admittedly, I am biased in favour of North Caucasian art, culture, and language: the mixture of influences from within the Caucasus and from beyond has produced a unique tapestry of traditions, and the languages are no less complex. This also describes the game well: gifted people have come together to create a thing of beauty. However, there are some flaws that take away from gameplay. PROS: - The colours are pretty and the sketchbook-like art style gives a roughness that is visually pleasing. - The flashbacks' transparent and faded tones aptly reflect the nature of memory. - The music, played on folk instruments, is sweetly melancholy. - The controls are smooth. CONS: - The flashbacks change too quickly for me to read the text. I dearly wanted to hear more about Soslan, but I hadn't finished reading the sentence before it was gone. - When I fell off a ledge, a bunch of flashbacks played at once. - Some of the words in the PAUSE menu were not translated from Russian. OTHER SUGGESTIONS: - Add some music or ambient noise to the title screen. - Add an options page to the main menu for changing volume,…

need for some changes like bug fixes, some work with cutscene texts(its difficult to read too fast and white on white), etc. i really like the idea, and the way you draw the textures and environment, really nice.
