About Dark Mechanism - Virtual reality
In this VR exclusive game, travel through clockwork and use your gaze to dodge obstacles, collect perks and avoid touching the Mechanism.
With a variety of upbeat music tracks, infinite levels, epic scale clockwork rooms and obstacles, you'll enjoy travelling at high speed and testing your reactions and focus. Keep your eyes ahead of the game, don't touch anything and survive the Mechanism as long as you can.
This game is an infinite runner style game. With each level complete, the speed will go faster, the obstacles will increase and the environment changes.
"Games that only require head movement as you go down a seemingly never ending tunnel are two a penny in the world of VR, but yet, without VR they are pretty much useless. So in comes Dark Mechanism to bring a new slant on the genre with its dark clockwork gears style of tunnel, all the while trying to move your head fast enough to avoid the bright red incoming projectiles.
There is no controller needed here other than maybe an Oculus Remote to start the app in the first place. Just move your head and avoid the scenery. Not only do the graphics looks pretty good and trippy, but the music also helps to set the scene as well as the pace of the game. Look, avoid, try and survive!"

'Look here to retry' but nothing works, no matter how hard I look. Shovelware, broken horrible shovelware. 0/107 found this helpful
You can view my review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/pcQxn02uX50
Experienced on the Oculus Rift. Gaze-based navigation.
I have both the Steam store (VR bundle) and Oculus store (deep sale) versions for this game. The Steam store version is broken. You cannot restart games from within the game as the gaze-based navigation doesn't work on the restart bar after you lose. You have to manually quit the game and then restart. That's a big fatal flaw for an endless runner. The game itself is not bad for a gaze-based endless runner. However, it's very limited in content and the music is bad (tastes may vary on that but I think most people would find it annoying to listen to after a few minutes). The store lists infinite levels. Although technically correct, it is misleading. There are only 4 levels, they just repeat and go faster and there may be alternating color schemes for those levels. That's too bad because this game is very trippy. The way the clockwork mechanisms look when they are rotating, with all the different shapes and colors , it's an otherworldly experience. Game just needs to be fixed and more levels added and it would have been recommendable. But as…5 found this helpful

Dark Mechanism is a focused virtual reality arcade experience developed and published by FoV that embraces minimalism, intensity, and physical immersion as its defining pillars. Rather than attempting to deliver a traditional game structure with characters, narrative arcs, or layered progression systems, it positions itself as a pure test of perception, reflexes, and endurance within a constantly shifting mechanical environment. From the moment a session begins, the game establishes a sense of urgency and scale, placing the player inside a vast, industrial tunnel that feels alive with motion and latent danger. The core gameplay loop is deceptively simple yet demanding. Players move forward automatically through an endless corridor of rotating gears, sliding panels, and mechanical hazards, relying almost entirely on head movement to dodge obstacles and survive. There are no weapons, no complex controls, and no alternate movement systems to learn; your field of view and physical reactions are the only tools at your disposal. This design makes Dark Mechanism immediately understandable, but it also means that success hinges on spatial awareness and the ability to quickly read patterns…

Appears to require a controller to play, but does not support the most used one (Xbox One). It doesn't actually require a controller to play, however. The "gaze control" used to start the game is really finicky, and doesn't work at all for the retry button. The gameplay itself is not as fun as it looks, and it looks boring af. Music is decent, but doesn't transition well from one song to another. tl;dr: shovelware, avoid!
