About Darkanoid
Darkanoid is a 21st century update of the challenging, frantically paced block-breakers of old. Enter the void and fight your way through a hardcore gaming experience from the heyday of action arcade games.
The game features two main modes.

Classic mode is a painful trial in the best tradition of the genre.
There are currently 40 levels and 4 Bosses. This will prove more than enough if you're willing to move beyond the easiest difficulty. Choose from 3 different levels of difficulty - Noob, Padawan and Master. How much of a challenge you are looking for?
In order to give you some hope of victory, we've included 11 different special effects and power-ups. Some will make the game easier, some will be challenging to use, and one will be dangerous even to you.
Your firegun and shield will be your main tools in Darkanoid. To give you an idea of the harshness of space, we've also added Teleports and Flying Blocks.
What would you say to a double-platform on the BONUS levels?
BONUS levels are located at the other end of a wormhole, but of course it's not *that* easy. First you must find the chip key and defeat the boss guarding the wormhole.
Black Zone engineers worked for many cycles to provide Cosmic Aid, a second chance for your platform if things don't go smoothly. Visit the Store to customize your platform with a unique upgrade. Of course for all these improvements, you'll need Darkens, which are hidden inside the hardest blocks and on BONUS levels.

In Survival mode, you must break through a wave of blocks, drones and bosses, all moving towards you. Your task is to survive as long as possible. You start with one life, and can only earn additional lives by defeating a Boss.
Will you survive to approach the outer limits of the Dark Zone? Survival mode also includes two unique power-ups: Entropy and Kelvin Zero.
In a nutshell:
- 2 game modes

- Teleports and Drones to increase the challenge

- unique resource – Darkens
- 13 skins, each with its own upgrade

What Steam players say

Darkanoid is widely praised as an excellent modern take on the classic Arkanoid formula, featuring polished gameplay, solid graphics, engaging mechanics, and satisfying arcade action that appeals to both longtime fans and newcomers. Common complaints center on the broken screen rotation option and subpar controller support, though most players feel the game delivers great value and fun despite these minor technical issues.
Really good game inspired from the legendary "Arkanoid" !!!7 found this helpful
Talk about knocking out of the park with your first Steam game for the developer!! WOW!! Darkanoid is a very well coded and oozing with quality outer space brick breaker with furious arcade action and two very different game modes to test your reflexes and challenge your hand-eye coordination! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qvwy6c7JrTo I've easily played over a hundred brick breaker games in my life, and this is easily one of the five best of all time for me! That's no small feat, but this game delivers! 9.5 out of 10 is my score! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED with my Zaxtors Indie Gold Award! ..Well done to the developer(s) of this indie gem!5 found this helpful
There are few games that I can play for less then an hour and immediately come to the comment section to say 'this is worth recommending to others'. Darkanoid is definitely a game to consider playing if you were a fan of Arkanoid back in the day and are looking to get back into breaking bricks. I won't say the game is perfect though, the game is played from a 'side' perspective where you will bounce the ball towards the bricks from the right of the screen to the left (as opposed to bottom to top like many Breakout style games). There is an option to change the display for the game but it 'literally' just flips the view for the game 90 degrees when you open it up (meaning unless you physically turn your monitor 90 degrees with it, it really doesn't do you any good unless you like playing your game laying down or with your head ♥♥♥♥♥♥ to the left). Nevertheless, the game can play fine with its default settings and if the developer does the vertical orientation properly, it will appeal to any old player of games in the Breakout genre.4 found this helpful
I mean , its not a good game, but it was cheap (I paid 50 cents ) and for that price its ok . Had fun even with its flaws3 found this helpful
I completely forgot about playing this game as a kid so this was a great nostalgia moment for me! The creators did a really good job with the graphics and adding in layers of difficulty. I only made it to the third level but had a good time doing it!2 found this helpful
Lovely smooth game, very enjoyable throwback :) Starts out fairly calm and adds a lot of cool extra mechanics and power-ups as you go. Challenging levels, and has a currency you can gather for later unlocks, that you can instead spend to get one more life. honestly a perfect 10/10 for what it is. Cons I found were minor; 1. Controller support not great - sensitivity slider only works for mouse. Mouse not at all strenuous to use in this game anyway if you have wrist trouble, very little input required. 2. Menu option to rotate game orientation from horizontal to vertical was busted, only rotates menus, not gameplay, which in turn muddles the controls ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
