Dead Lasso: Temple Of Shadows

This would be a nifty micro Metroidvania at only five bucks, but it has a few critical glitches. It's utterly terrible at keeping track of your progress, so there's a good chance you won't even be able to finish the game, and repeatedly switching from windowed to full screen mode causes the graphics to irreversibly blur until you can't see anything whatsoever. I can't recommend this game until it gets some patches to restore basic functionality.

Dead Lasso is a microvania with 2-3 hours of gameplay. There’s no combat or bosses, only platforming and exploration. Unlike most MVs of this size, there are actually a large number of ability gates. The dense world requires lots of backtracking to fully explore and is very sequence breakable as well. On a new save I was able to reach the exit of the temple in just a few minutes, but you still have to collect everything on the map to actually beat the game. I encountered a few minor bugs, but nothing game breaking. For less than $2 on sale this is an easy recommendation.

Played on 512 Steam Deck without issues. This is a fantastic great time! So much value for your money. Just get it. I liked this game!

There are games that you can buy for 10, 20, 30, 40 (I'm sure you get the picture) times what this cost (less than $2AUD) that don't come close to the quality of gameplay that is on offer here! Such a great little search-action game that looks great, feels fantastic to play, and even concludes in a way that you're ABSOLUTELY not expecting (or, at least, I wasn't). One of 2026's hidden gems, for sure!

This game is AWESOME!!! But I just can't give a thumbs up to a game with an achievements that is broken, especially one that you find out is broken so late in the game--its the one for collecting all of the golden sacks, which should register right before you finish the game.

Perfect little filler metroidvania that works without hero aggression or fights and brings fun platforming besides impactful upgrades. I believe you can traverse the caves in different order depending on which upgrades you find first. There often are several paths to different sections of the map. The map itself is okay, although markers for the teleporters would have been helpful. Backtracking at the end was a slight minus for me, but hey, such a thing comes with the genre and the game is beatable in roughly 2 hours , so who would bring that to the table? I think, it is worth the little price asked for a short and straightforward MV experience.
