About Dead Pets: A Punk Rock Slice of Life Sim
Gordy and her punk band, Dead Pets, have been playing together for… a while, and have never made it big. Heading into their 30s, their personal responsibilities and the band's uncertain future is looming over them. Do they have what it takes to give Dead Pets one last shot at success?
Dead Pets is a feminist, management-lite, minigame-heavy, slice-of-life, narrative game; about music, friendship, and maturing. Playing as Gordy, you’ll go to band practice, manage Gordy’s finances, her wellbeing, and try to find enough time and money to cover... well, everything.
Gordy's life is a mess. Decide where Gordy’s priorities lie to shape the future of the band. With different endings, you'll have the chance to help Gordy grow in a ton of different ways.
Long-term friendships can be messy, especially when everyone grows up at their own pace. Can you stop a job, a relationship or a lifestyle from hurting the band?
On top of everything else, the band's first taste of success comes at the cost of Gordy’s mental health and physical wellbeing. Just how much is she willing to sacrifice for fame? Or for justice?
From the creators of Welcome to Elk, dive into the demon world of New Void City, and give your childhood dreams one last chance. It’s time to get loud, grow up, and rock out.

absolutely loving this one so far! it's like a slice-of-life point & click with a ton of minigames (that are actually... fun??). The writing is definitely remniscent of the band practice segments from Night in the Woods, but it's more mature and hits closer to home. Think Life is Strange if it weren't cringe It's a crime that this release almost flew over my radar, because Welcome to Elk (tripple topping's previous game) is one of my all time favorites. Really hope it finds its audience!
If I'm honest that you get new clothes over the course of the game and that you can change clothes everyday earns it an instant thumbs up. That they bothered to add that feature reflects the love put into the game. A number of mini-games that you just play once. Animations you just see once. Good, original songs. It's all very effort-rich. The characters are believable and worthy of your time and care. I wished Gordy, the main character, had more happy moments but that's life, fair enough. Criticisms? What you are supposed to do in the mini-games wasn't always clear. My big gripe--the diner dash game was a thorn in my side, almost to the point where I didn't continue to the end, but I did, and I rarely see games through so that's a testament that this one is a gem!
This game blends visual novel storytelling with minigames while following the chaotic life of a struggling punk band. Its mix of absurd humor and emotional vulnerability is hit or miss, but the heavier themes (especially mental health and sexual assault) are handled well. Some lighter moments can feel a bit cringe though. The punk/riot grrrl soundtrack is excellent but it is limited and leaves that part of the game feeling repetitive. I gave this game a 7/10
What a fun game! I really loved the story, the characters I found funny and engaging. I related to Gordy a lot, she def reminds me of me when I was that age. The story was compelling, I found myself really rooting for them! Highly recommend :D
I waited quite a while for this game to come out and honestly, I'm glad I did. As a musician myself, this certainly hit home and in a way did make me contemplate a lot about trying to live as both someone who wants to make music with people I'm hopefully close with, but also know how to make a decent living at the same time. I always have a soft spot for rhythm games and virtual novels, and this game is its own unique breed of fun and in depth storytelling. Thank you Dead Pets for releasing, may punk music never die.
