This is an Arkanoid/Breakout-style, ball-and-bat game with a fantasy theme. Controls could have been better. Level design was barebones in terms of obstacles or stuff to break, not like a standard Arkanoid/Breakout clone, and the main difficulty came from the enemies. The pixel graphics were acceptable and you could recognize easily what everything was during gameplay. The main character faces were poorly drawn. For this type of game, I appreciated the original mechanic to be able to slow down or accelerate the ball at any time. Crude sophomoric humor that I sometimes found funny, mostly not. Replayable with different paths opening different levels.8 found this helpful
A fantastical arcady adventure that feels smooth and buttery, any breakout fans would love this game mechanically, and anybody who enjoys the classics of adult swim would love this game for its art and humor, absolute favorite ngl and I'm so glad Ross and his game dungeon introduced this game to me
Level design feels very samey and repetitive.
A pure miserable experience
Enough cheap deaths to get under my skin but enough charm and leniency to not make me disregard it out right. Would recommend during a sale.
Death's hangover has 12 unique areas, each with several levels, and a boss. As you complete each area, you rise through the tower until you get to the final boss. Each room you must either break open the door, or defeat a certain amount of enemies first. Although it's arcade style, the gameplay is very forgiving and once you get a hang of it, it's almost hard to lose due to how many extra-lives you can get. There are Souls in each area you can rescue by hitting their box, and in turn you can redeem these souls after death for a free random-powerup and an extra three lives. There are also coins/point items in each level and every 5000 is an extra life The powerups are varied, and while you don't need to break everything to continue, you must find secret items (keys) in order to access 1/2 of the game. Overall, art style is fantastic, game seems bug free (except the one occasion i had where the ball bounced in the same path for a minute before it broke free), music/sfx are solid, and it's fun to play. The story/dialogue is blah, but who plays brick breakers for that? Takes maybe 30 minutes to an hour to beat depending on how fast or slow you play, and I'd assume 4-5 hours to 1…
