Demonherd Dungeon

This game has a depth that will surprise you. The early game is very hard because your deck will be bad, you won't have items, and you won't know how to play the game. You might want to quit. Don't. The characters are endearing, the art is great, and there's a wonderful sense of discovery in finding new cards and turning the hot garbage deck each character starts with into something both powerful and personal.

Super excited to play, the game's concept, writing, lore, and art hooked me immediately. Then I settled into the gameplay loop... Not hard, just tedious. Repetitive. RNG Frustration. Instead of character and deck optimization, my brain started calculating how many more runs until I get the next tiny sprinkle of the story. From there, it didn't take long to decide that the math wasn't working for me. Goodbye Magikania. I wish we could have hung out more. I'll remember you fondly.

Losing is the fun part right? Fun! Constant debuffs make my damage do less while I take 50~ damage per turn. Draw my pathetic cards to only have those cards I drew do damage to me and become unusable since the same 50~ damage I took also poisoned my deck. Get cucked out of your deck loser. LOSING shouldn't be the focus of the game. "yOu DOn't LosE anYThinG YoU finD" yeah NEAT, but my first 3 hours I've done literally nothing but get my ass handed to me by the first boss on repeat. Its not even close. All this "great" loot I find just turns into bread I'm required to eat after every fight, all this money turns into water I have to use every single turn. I'm not sure if your sprint setting even works either. I hold shift: nothing changes, I change the toggle: nothing changes. Slog of getting beat down while moving slow is insanity. Gonna rake my balls over more glass later since I'm past the refund period passing hour two holding hope it gets better. Fun game although I am a bit sad they went away from the RPG formula in the first game. For those that played the first game you will recognize a lot of characters and they have a lot of references to the previous game. Artwork is still a bit simple but charming. I am not sure why some have difficulties with the fights. If you play the synergies and maybe get the first booster pack then most fights are fine. Some characters are more strong that others of the bat. In the harder fights using items helps a lot. Compared to the first game it can become a bit repetitive since it's not story driven as the first game but rather entering the same dungeons over and over.

If you can get over a simple repetative gameplay loop for extreme variety in playable characters, deckbuildng / stlye diversity, you will enjoy this game.
