Die for Valhalla! is an action RPG where you hack, slash and crush your enemies! Possess and take full control of heroes, monsters and other things to help Vikings save their realm!
You are a Valkyrie, a supernatural maiden bestowed with the ability to possess fallen warriors. You embark on a quest that will lead you through strange lands where Norse Mythology collides with Lovecraftian mythos. Sounds Weird? Well, because it is!
You can play solo or locally with friends (up to 4 players).
Normal - Beat ‘Em Up mode creates a larger world for you to explore with a more relaxed difficulty curve. You can revive your friends and the potions you find have useful or hilarious effects (or both).
Hardcore - Rogue-lite mode generates a smaller world featuring steeper difficulty curve and permadeath. Some of the potions you find have malicious effects - you have to learn which ones to avoid in each run!

"Die for Valhalla!" is a Nintendo Switch game that's been dumped on Steam so PC gamers can pretend their gaming rig is a handheld gaming appliance instead a PC. It's a basic arcade brawler, a little like a lazy ripoff of Golden Axe from the 1980's, only with worse graphics. Yeah, console gamers continue to make gaming worse for everyone. There's a couple of quirks in this viking themed Golden Axe ripoff, like you resurrect warriors and then control them to do the fighting, but little "innovations" like that aren't enough to resurrect an old, dead gaming genre. The industry moves on. They even have 3D graphics now, but the developers of "Die for Valhalla!" apparently never got the memo. I guess they were too busy working out if they could put this game on iPhones or something. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game is comprised of very mediocre, amateurish hand drawn 2D illustrations instead of professional looking 3D game assets. A coop beatemup, that is, unfortunately, way too repetitive and gets boring real fast. I mean, you can still die for valhalla. Of boredom. Might work for a few hours, if you're out of coop options.1 found this helpful

Die for Valhalla! is an action RPG beat ’em up that takes familiar mechanics from the genre and injects them with a clever twist rooted in Norse mythology. Developed and published by Monster Couch, the game puts you in the role of a Valkyrie, not as a mighty warrior, but as a spirit who possesses fallen heroes to fight in her stead. This concept of inhabiting warriors is the heart of the gameplay and adds an extra layer of strategy to what would otherwise be a traditional side-scrolling brawler. Instead of playing as one fixed character, you are constantly shifting between different classes, each with their own abilities, and adapting to whatever the battlefield throws at you.
