About Apsulov: End of Gods

The humans delved far beneath the earth to find the mercy of the gods. What they found was never meant to reach the surface. Not on Midgard, nor any of the nine realms of Yggdrasil. Now their discovery wreaks havoc on their world, exploiting their technology, and leaving all in misery and decay. Through all their conquests and revelations they never stopped to consider that some things are buried for a reason.

In a world of technology and mythological artifacts, chaos rules over the human realm. It is in this chaos that you find your purpose and destiny.

In this future viking horror you awake in a sanctuary of steel and concrete, built to research and exploit the worlds of Yggdrasil, and to house an artifact, buried in the earth aeons ago.
Unveil the secrets of the mythology, the artifacts, and the realms of Yggdrasil in Apsulov: End of Gods.

It’s a walking sim featuring stealth sections, as well as more action-oriented moments as you progress and acquire upgrades. An extremely slow start holds back the second half of the game, which is far superior. I expected pure horror—like the studio's previous attempt—but it still features a fantastic setting that blends Norse mythology with science fiction, along with the occasional jump scare. Recommended.

Huh, imagine playing God of War, Hellblade and watching Stargate episodes actually paying off in some random game. I can more or less follow what's going on. It's like Amnesia Rebirth if it took place in the Stargate universe. Pretty good! Edit: almost finished with the game. This definitely has some Reynolds-esque scifi flavor to it. It's pretty rad, gameplay is different. It works, but it's different. The whole game is rather different. Also, important tip! To "shoot" enemies, you just charge your arm and release when the charge is full. The whole "Aim and shoot" thing is only for shooting long distance puzzle elements and doors. Just FYI!

TL/DR: This is essentially Doom 3 (2004) without the action. It's also quite short and I finished it in 5.7 hours. Story: 7/10 Environment: 7.5/10 Gameplay: 5/10 World interaction: 1/10 Exploration: 2/10 Player choice: 1/10 Apsulov has a good but somewhat predictable story set in an interesting and well crafted facility. Unfortunately, there is very little to explore or interact with. It's pretty, but almost entirely static. Background story information comes in the form of PDAs, similar to games like Systemshock 2, Bioshock, etc. There are some side area to explore if you take the time to explore menus on elevators or break into various rooms, but not much. The gameplay consists of simply sneaking around mostly blind enemies and occasionally blasting one of them; all can be outrun. You will then backtrack to a charging station and continue. The player will get two choices to make in the game, but only one matters at all. There is no deviation from what you are ordered to do. It's a good game if you want a good story set in a cool environment, but don't expect anything more than that. I enjoyed this game and think it's worth every penny I spent on it. I'm looking f…
