Warning: Asset Flip! "Difficult times" is an asset flip, or what Valve calls a "Fake Game". The "developer" paid for/pirated someone else's example/template/tutorial game, changed the name/reskinned a couple of things, and submitted it to Valve as if it was their own game.
This time, they stole a basic GameMaker Studio demo/tutorial pack for making a simple tower defense game and slapped their own name on it. They want your money for someone else's work... this is a scam. Gamesforgames have shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. Absolutely pitiful tower defense "game" from a shovelware "company" that goes by several different aliases. Lacks every nicety and feature typical TD games have: no fast forwarding, no selling or upgrading towers, no varying enemy types, and a small number of towers/abilities. Not to mention the inconsistent art style and incorrectly scaled pixel art. It's stupidly easy and short as well - just spam the crossbow tower everywhere since it can hit every lane. You've seen everything this has to offer after about 5 minutes - please spend the $9.99 (or $1 on sale) on anything else. P.S. The positive reviews are fake and paid for.

Difficult Times is a compact tower defense strategy game developed and published by Gamesforgames that focuses on defending magical portals from relentless waves of monsters. Rather than attempting to reinvent the genre, the game embraces familiar mechanics and delivers a straightforward experience centered on tactical planning, resource management, and defensive positioning. Its simple premise makes it immediately accessible, allowing players to jump into the action without lengthy tutorials or complicated systems. The gameplay revolves around building and maintaining a defensive network capable of stopping increasingly dangerous enemy forces. Players earn gold by defeating monsters and must decide how best to spend their resources between towers, summoned knights, barricades, and magical abilities. This creates a steady cycle of risk and reward, as every investment can determine whether a defensive line holds or collapses. The presence of multiple defensive tools encourages experimentation, with some players favoring powerful static defenses while others rely on a combination of units and spells to control the battlefield. One of the more appealing aspects of Difficult Times is…
