Dino Age: The First Fracture

It's trash, the usual kind of 'game' made by people these days that don't seem to understand basic mechanics. Honestly its like an alpha for a mobile app. Such a waste of time.

Dino Age: The First Fracture is a small survival RPG that throws me into the Triassic era with basically nothing and expects me to work my way up from there. I play as Owen, who ends up stranded in a prehistoric swamp after being pulled into the past by a Time Fracture. From there I am gathering resources, making equipment, fighting corrupted dinosaurs and trying to work out what is happening to the timeline. I like the dinosaur setting because it gives the usual survival mechanics a simple reason to exist, and the Time Fracture idea adds a bit more to the story than just being stuck in the wilderness. The progression is probably the strongest part for me. There are six skills to work on, including combat, crafting, cooking, hatching, gathering and woodcutting, and they improve as I actually use them. That makes the progression feel connected to what I am doing instead of just giving me experience for completing random objectives. I can gather better materials, make stronger equipment, prepare food for useful buffs and even hatch dinosaur eggs to get companions. This is a very bad demo that feels like a programming students school project. There is a single storage container that you have to build at a preset base location along with all the other base items for cooking and hatching. There are only a few handful of areas in the game and it really shouldn't take more than 40 minutes to complete everything. Drafting: AI assists in drafting initial marketing copy and lore structures, which are then finalized by our writers." So pretty much every thing and nothing to enhance the game.

Based on the demo. The setting is create Art seems to be lovely when target group is children. Unfortunately it lacks in feedback, especially when the combat is RNG based. No attack animations of the player no sounds. just hit or miss text on screen. No hit reaction of enemies. This is all based on fist combat. Especially children need feedback on their actions, to understand what they are doing. I was wondering multiple times if i actually use the correct buttons to do something, because it was so unclear what is happening. Is the text on screen from the enemies or me? Who hit and who did damage?

fun little game, animations need work... needs some overall work, but it works well...

This game is a demo of the full game, so not every system is there and flushed out, but I still liked it. My only issue is that it stutters whenever there is animation and occasionally when moving around, and of course it is not the state of the art, it is a top down 2d game. I think the the 2d aspect of it is part of the appeal. I just wish there is much more graphics or objects in the game (I mean the devs realized it and mentioned in their update of the full game "static environment"). Besides that, it was super fun for a small game demo. I give it a dino/10
