Doggo Dig Down

Doggo Dig Down is a 2D retro pixel/minimalist arcade digging/platformer game where you guide a dog to dig holes in a 2D minimalist plane. While this looks a lot like an asset flip/game construction kit template flip, apparently it's a real and genuine attempt to create a video game without any capability to organise genuine PC graphics. In fairness, then, the game should be reviewed as such. The graphics are terrible. Just look at the screen shots! No wonder this got dumped into cheap game bundles. I can't recommend anyone should buy this. If you want a digging game, I guess you could try Terraria, but that also has ugly 2D pixel "art" (again because the developers lacked the talent to do better).

This game honestly feels like a fever dream. Or a 2000s flash game. You're a dog digging deep into the earth to bury your bone, but then the dirt has to go somewhere, so you build your way up to find presents in the sky so you can carry more dirt to build more platforms to get high enough to jump into the sun and die (it's okay though, you come back). But also you can find a grappling hook and a jetpack. And there's chill lounge music playing the whole time. And also hats. Honestly though, I enjoyed it. It's short, and the tags seem like a misrepresentation of what the game actually is. It's only a precison platformer if you make it one, I wouldn't classify it as a side scroller game, and you're "exploring" only in the loosest sense of the word. You are moving dirt from one spot to another. That's it. I found it to be a pretty meditative 3 hours, but it's definitely not for everyone. I got it on sale for $1, and that's about what I'd pay for it.

Surprisingly entertaining for whath little gameplay there is. I know there will be some mad person out there who is gonna draw create a stairwell to doggo heaven with pixel art.

This game seems like a low effort student project. No sprite animations, text-to-voice narration, and simplistic & repetitive gameplay make this a very unpleasant experience. You will spend the entire game digging a path down, while continuously bringing the dirt back to the surface to build a path into the sky to get the necessary power-ups. Doggo Dig Down is boring, and not worth $4.
