Ducks Can Drive is exactly the kind of silly little racing game that I can pick up without taking too seriously, and I had a lot of fun with it. I play as a duck driving around a colorful city, delivering food to other ducks and using the money to improve my car before competing in a race. I love how ridiculous the premise is, but the game actually gives the simple idea enough structure to keep me interested. The delivery system is what makes the racing more interesting. Before the race begins, I have a limited amount of time to complete deliveries and earn as much money as possible. I can then spend that money upgrading my vehicle, so every delivery is really a decision about how much time I want to spend preparing for the final race. I liked this because the race is not just about driving skill. My preparation beforehand matters too. Driving around the city is enjoyable because the map gives me space to explore and find my way between different delivery locations. The car handles simply enough that I can get moving quickly, but there is still a nice sense of speed once I start pushing for better times.
