✦ AI summary

Cast Within is a accessible and enjoyable dungeon crawler that successfully evolves from simple maps to more complex, challenging encounters with well-designed puzzles that enhance rather than frustrate gameplay. Players praise its fair difficulty balance, lack of technical issues, unique visual style, and responsive developer, though some note the graphics and UI could be more polished and that mage builds offer more engaging replayability than warrior classes. The game delivers solid entertainment as a lighter take on the genre at a great price point, though it doesn't quite reach the depth

Great dungeon crawler! Starting out easy on small maps, it evolves to complex maps (even outdoors) and tougher challenges, nicely. Game is always fair and has just the right playtime. The riddles are few, well done and doable - they support the game and don't harass the player constantly... Graphics are fine and unique (maps and inventory could be pimped visually and improved with more information, though), sound is average. No bugs, glitches or crashes at all. I think to play this game as a mage is even more rewarding, you will miss some game elements if you (like me) play as a warrior. There seem to be a lot of spells (with powerfull names in end-game) and you have to find special glyphs to use them. I obviously can't rate this part of the game. So there is replayability. In any case you have to play a mage on hard difficulty in old-school (no maps) to 100% it in one play-through. Quite a challenge - I'll pass. There is nothing groundbreaking new in the game (thankfully no "experiments" like in other crawlers I played recently), but it is very well-thought-out, solid and most important of all - FUN: There are many doors to unlock, secrets to find, weapons to equip, armor set…

Quite a fun dungeon crawler, the graphics are as you see them in the screenshots - originally the game was made for mobile as 'Underwell', and later improved upon and released as 'Cast Within' for PC. Puzzles are dotted about and quite enjoyable - I found they generally needed a bit of thought to work out, but nothing overly taxing for my old noggin' :) Later levels get visually darker and more sinister as the story unfolds, although the story isn't any more in-depth than you'd expect from a dungeon crawler (fine with me.. just enough to give you direction) ;) Certain elements of the level design set me wondering if the dev used to play Quake alot, as there's that gothic/medieval/elder feel bubbling under the surface later on. Lots of secrets throughout, but none of them are difficult to find (unless I missed them I guess!).. the blocks are easy to locate and I only found 1 illusionary wall, which had a clue leading to it. Basically no need to go around the entire dungeon looking over every wall and bumping into them to test for illusions.. you can find the secrets by just being aware of your surroundings. Anyway, good dungeon crawler, definitely look forward to seeing what com…

In this video I take a look at Dungeons of Legend: Cast Within a first person turn based dungeon crawler. I had a great time playing this game. Initially I was a little dubious and was worried it would be a junk title but instead I ended up very happy with what it offered as effort has clearly gone into it's creation. It requires strategy to complete a level and the dungeons are well laid out, with secret areas and puzzles that need completing to progress. The graphics are also pleasing. It has free movement but the combat is turn based. All in all I think it's a nice title and worth your time. Good game, nice graphics in a cartoonish blockish but enjoyable way. Grid based dungeon. Didn´t find any bugs. Have to applaud the fantastic response of the developers, they answer, they change the game according to the gamers preferences, well done guys ! Although without reaching the lofty heights of Grimrock, The fall of the dungeon guardians or Might & Magic X Legacy, I am pleased to have played it. Recommended for a more light take on the genre.

A simple and light, yet fun little dungeon crawler. This one isn't going to tax your gaming skills much, but it's a good no stress game. Finished it in less than 7 hours but easily can be less if you don't need to uncover every square like I do. As a mage, it was easy mode for sure.

Quite a good action RPG 'dungeon crawler' with phased time combat. It has fairly basic RPG elements but some quite exciting and interesting dungeon level designs and the exploration of the levels is also interesting. The graphics are quite good and the sound effects are fairly basic. but adequate. There is not too much strategy to fighting the monsters as they are not very intelligent, but it is more of an action game. The dungeon levels have some tricky traps sections and some interesting puzzles that require a bit of lateral thinking. The auto map is very good. Overall quite a decent action dungeon crawler game and also very cheap. it cost me only £7. Good value for money.
