About Earthtongue
Guide a delicate ecosystem of fungi and insects in a sunless world, using subtle interventions to maintain balance while watching life struggle and thrive in mesmerizing detail. EarthTongue lets you play god or observer, whether you're carefully breeding beetles, cultivating fungal gardens, or simply watching nature's quiet drama unfold at its own pace.
EarthTongue is a vivarium sim that places in you limited control over a small ecosystem on a fantastical world. You will spend most of your time watching life grow and eat each other to survive. Your subtle nudges will be required to maintain the balance of this world, but it can handle itself much of the time. Player given goals are limited, aside from maximizing the health of your ecosystem. You may choose to try to create a fungal garden to your liking. You may try your best to breed as many beetles as you can. You might use those beetles instead as food stock for the mantises. You might instead just peacefully watch the story of Earthtongue unfold on its own.

This is a delightful little game. Highly recommend.
Earthtongue is a terrarium/ecosystem simulator. Watch an ecosystem grow, with minor interventions. Watch your minor interventions ♥♥♥♥ things up. Fix them for awhile, and learn how the various species relate to one another in the cycle of life. Restart and try new things in a world after understanding the rules.
Earthtongue invokes the feeling of the early days of exploring nature as a child. Seeing fauna or flora you've never seen before in your life. Not even knowing what it's called or anything about it. So you observe. You sit and you wait. Maybe you go do something else for a bit and then come back later to check. Eventually, you notice something. You've recognized a behavior of the organism. You try feeding it something. Maybe relocating it somewhere. You repeat this cycle with more plants and creatures. You're still mostly an observer, but a curious one. You'll occasionally nudge things here and there, testing a new hypothesis. You've begun to form an understanding of the ecosystem around you. I know that Earthtongue has the potential to be a much deeper game than how I've played it. You can specifically curate an ecosystem based on your knowledge of the animal and plant life you've observed. You can design effectively closed terrariums for multiple different species. I did none of this. I chose to trigger random events. Over and over. Occasionally doing something more deliberate. For the sake of testing of course. I have yet to mention that this game is not just one ecosyste…
