About ELEA

Elea: Memories
Elea is a surreal sci-fi adventure game in which you play as space scientist Elea. In 2073, Earth was struck by a horrid childhood disease and Elea’s husband Ethan joined an expedition to colonize Solace, a habitable exoplanet, to save humanity from extinction. The interstellar ship he was on, Pilgrimage, went radio silent shortly after it reached planet Solace. Thirteen years later, Elea joins a recovery mission to investigate the faith of the expedition. What follows is a wondrous journey through space.

Story
Elea is a game that takes the player on the deeply personal journey of a woman, whose life is marked by loss, grief and self-accusation in the aftermath of a global pandemic that turned her youngest boy into a raging psychopath. Luckily, an Earth-like exoplanet within an achievable distance from the Solar system had been recently discovered. Pooling volunteers from around the globe, a first-of-a-kind interstellar spacecraft was built and sent to colonize the yet unexplored planet. The gargantuan ship was named Pilgrimage, embodying the hopes of all of the humanity. To everyone’s dismay, shortly after a successful arrival, the Pilgrimage went on total radio silence. What caused it remains a mystery.
13 years later, research starship Recovery has arrived on site to investigate the fate of the expedition. The player takes the role of the space scientist River Elea Catherine Jones. She is driven above all by a personal goal – to find her husband Ethan, who occupied a prominent position on the Pilgrimage’s scientific crew. By putting the character up against events and phenomena which are beyond human grasp, the game aims to defy the conventional notions of personal accountability, choice and meaning of life. It is a story about our fragility as a species, about finding solace through surrender.

I lost the motivation to play ELEA when I died an hour into the game without even understanding I was doing everything wrong. I actually thought the game was finally taking off the moment I died. This is how abstract ELEA is (in a bad way). And apparently being pregnant makes it impossible to walk in a normal pace, you walk extremely slow. This was an incredibly frustrating experience and I do not intend to finish it. Don't even think about buying this buggy and unfinished crap on sale.4 found this helpful
ELEA Positives: + Nice idea and interesting story + Fantastic graphics + Mostly nice atmosphere + Nice style and design + Very detailed environments + Good sound and music + Nice voiceacting Negatives: - All the nonsense parts that doesnt do anything to the story - Sometimes hard to know what to do next - Quirky controls - All the bugs and glitches - Bad facial animations - The flickering, blinking and other horrible effects that are highly unneccessary - Overly use of effects in general that make the game look worse - Very slow walking speed - The "ending" makes no sense - Very short length This could have been a great space walking sim, but it ended up in a bit of a dissappointment. Dont get me wrong, its still worth to play. But it could have been a lot better. Where is the rest of the game and story? It went nowhere. And be aware that some parts got horrible effects that a lot of people will find challenging to watch. Total Score: 7/102 found this helpful
ELEA is a narrative-driven science fiction adventure developed by Kyodai Ltd and published by SOEDESCO, presenting a deeply introspective journey through space, memory, and human fragility. Framed as a first-person exploration experience, the game places players in the role of River Elea Catherine Jones, a scientist grappling with profound personal loss and unresolved questions surrounding an interstellar expedition known as the Pilgrimage. Years before the events of the game, humanity faced extinction due to a mysterious disease affecting children, prompting the launch of a desperate mission to colonize a distant planet named Solace. River’s husband joined that mission and vanished without explanation. ELEA unfolds as River ventures into the remnants of that failed expedition, determined to uncover what happened and to confront the emotional void left behind. From the outset, ELEA establishes a contemplative and melancholic tone. The pacing is deliberate, often slow, emphasizing atmosphere over action. Rather than relying on traditional gameplay mechanics or combat systems, the experience centers on environmental storytelling and narrative immersion. This game did not work properly for me on Steam for PC. Motion was slow and at times worse. Several times the game glitched and would not display properly. I thought it was part of the game until I watched the posted Youtube video. My game ended about half way through. I never got to see Ethan's face or the elevator to the "control platform", etc. I saw "rebooting" several times then the game just ended. Overall, I just didn't enjoy it. I read a comment somewhere that it was not much different from the ending of "2001 Space Odyssey". Well, I didn't like that either and this was like the ending throughout the entire game. I paid $1.49 for it and it wasn't worth it.1 found this helpful
The story begins with interesting strange, albeit epileptic and sometimes creepy hallucinations and memories of family, but then makes a sharp leap forward 20 years to the colonist to the ship sent to find people a new home without radiation harmful to children (causing uncontrolled outbreaks of violence), on which the main character seems to be trying to look for her husband, who disappeared on the previous ship, while sleeping with a childishly jealous captain, drugging a colleague to steal her authenticator, blocking his eldest son’s transfer to the same ship behind his back, after she left him and other “pleasant” things, and it all ends with an escape to the planet without the slightest answer to a bunch of questions with a planet-sized basis for a continuation, which, obviously, does not happen This would still be a good sad story about a family drama and a mysterious planet a-la the novels of Stanislav Lem, if not for one disgusting thing that ruins everything - the voice actress reads the text from a piece of paper absolutely unemotionally throughout the game, even in the moment when that same son calls and the ship’s robot notes “double pulse and strong excitement” 5/10 t…1 found this helpful
