ECHO

This game is equal parts mesmerizing to look at, equal parts entrancing to play, and executed so cleanly that nothing really feels like it's dragging it down. The visual design, level design, and gameplay are finely crafted with absolutely no fat whatsoever, which elevates the intrigue of the setting and story tremendously. The whole gameplay loop folds perfectly back onto itself, yet they kept finding fascinating scenarios to make me think about my options in new ways. It's just watertight, a really smooth experience. If you enjoy puzzles and stealth action, ECHO is a no-brainer, it's been the highlight of my year.

The game is beautiful, I played it years ago, but I bought it again and it kept crashing on me. It's just a fond memory now.

i got more than halfway through this game but ultimately couldn't bring myself to keep going so this is a do not recommend unless you are very into stealth games. the core mechanic is interesting, but not enough on its own to sustain a game of this length.

Gargantuan regiments of massive marble pillars, serene pools with lush vegetation, and dismal dark endless corridors of glass adorned with all manner of ornate, pristine detail create a space of divine yet hostile grandeur. With each regular system restart cycle, the porcelain-like entities known as ECHOs literally learn from the player, absorbing every individual encounter, movement pattern, and tactic before evolving to counter them with chilling precision. This core concept makes for some super difficult but profoundly rewarding gameplay that demands patience and careful planning for smooth success. Cool ideas, but the repetetive nature, the clunky movement, samey environments and invonvenient save checkpoints make this ultimately not worth my time. The controls, movement and interface feels like this was meant to be a VR game at some point.

Useless. No in-game sound effects. Cut scenes and dialogue work fine, but only silence once play gets underway.
