What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Players praise this Hollow Knight-inspired precision platformer for its challenging design, art, audio, and rewarding boss patterns once mastered. However, opinions are divided on the controls, particularly the unconventional jump mechanics that feel awkward initially and require adjustment, with some viewing them as intentional design choices while others see them as fundamental flaws; the game is short but quality, best experienced with a controller.

a punch of the worst mechanism, giving u one of the worse game ever created.
Very linear and extremely short. Couldn't turn off screen shake or controller vibration something I do in every game I play. The most annoying part about this game is you get one shot by everything I don't care if there were many checkpoints it was still annoying. Got this game in an on sale bundle and this isn't the primary game I was looking towards, but none the less wouldn't recommend anyone going out of their way to pick this one up.
I played this game and beat it after 670 deaths. Let’s be clear: I didn’t finish it because it was fun; I finished it out of pure spite and to spite its broken design. There is a massive difference between fair, rewarding difficulty found in masterpieces like Hollow Knight or ori where you actually learn from your mistakes and grow as a player—and lazy, artificial difficulty. Elypse relies on cheap "one-hit-kill" mechanics coupled with millimeter-precise platforming in a world riddled with bugs and clunky physics. The developer had absolutely no idea how to balance this game. The movement is absurdly fast to the point of being unplayable, and the encounters are designed with sheer laziness. The final boss is the perfect example: it throws 5 different attacks at you simultaneously, completely filling the screen with projectiles. It's not a test of skill; it's a test of luck and trial-by-annoyance. The biggest confession of this failed design is the fact that the developer literally put a slider in the settings allowing you to slow the game speed down to 50%. This is a official admission that they couldn't balance the pacing of their own game, so they threw in a cheap, l…
