Encore Classic Casino Games

It is almost no different than the older Hoyle Casino games of yesteryear (minus subtle differences like the renaming to Encore (you can still see Hoyle branding hiding in certain areas) the horse racing seems to have been removed. Also the removal of the dealer's hands being animated in dealing the cards. And the removal of that occasional 'broken' progressive fruit slot that would pay out like crazy until the maintenance man stops by to 'repair' it. If you're looking for a modern, immersive experience, look elsewhere. If you're looking for an offline time killer that can run on a potato? I think the $20 is worth it for no annoying ads every other hand or a slow wallet death by microtransactions to unlock each game/game mode. I, for laughs and giggles, even got this to work on a 2008 Netbook (albeit running in compatibility mode in Linux, XP has LONG since been unsupported by Steam) My (actual) hours on this are very shortchanged as Steam only adds to the clock when you're online. I tend to play at work with no internet during the slow season in between customers. Easily past 400 hours here.

I do not know about the Hoyle games, but I am glad that I found this. There are some frustrating elements of this game for sure, and I suppose that some of the negative reviews are justified. Unless you adjust the scale of your monitor, you are pretty much forced to play in fullscreen. There is only one windowed mode and it is itty bitty. The game itself has not aged very well. That said, this is packed with a variety of casino games. If you were to go and hunt down say something like blackjack, video poker, roulette, and the like adding them up will exceed the price of this game (not considering free or freemium options). In addition to that, some games such as slots are scarce on Steam, especially classic slots. There are tons of variations in this game but that mostly consists of bet ranges and bet sizes (i.e. the range of slot bets .25, .50, 1.00, 5.00 and so on). Some of the games available not listed in the description are Video Blackjack, Video Texas Hold'em, Multi-line Slots, and Video Slots. I can see myself playing this game for a while, and I have found that it works decently on the Steam Deck either using the touch screen or the track pad. edit: It is a pain…

Bought it because this game used to have horse racing. There is no horse racing in this version. There is no casino floor hub you mouse around like you used to, instead, there is a main menu that you shuffle thru to play the game you want. Otherwise, plays like I remember.

I have this game on disc, since cd drives are a thing of the past, now I found it on Steam and can enjoy it again. If you are interested in learning casino games this is a great game to use. You get to create your own character and can banter with the other NPC's. Very entertaining.

This game is so addictive. My preference is 7 card stud. I spent many hours with this playing late into the early morning.

This is little better than the games tab on Windows 98. That's the way I treat it. When i don't feel like popping a pimple.....i play this game and hope the Hoyle company decide to develop some standards and not sell off their property to the lowest bidder.
