[h3]Dungeon Escape 1: The Horror that Started Greatness[/h3] When I saw the Dungeon Escape series, I decided to start with the second part, and it saved the franchise for me. Dungeon Escape 2 is a fine game, but a masterpiece compared to part 1. Because when I returned to check out where it all started, I met this horror. I'm not talking about the graphics — the 2D of the first part could be as charming as the 3D of the second one. I'm all about gameplay. In DE2, it was possible to beat the game on your third run, but character builds and the alternative ending were the reason to stay. In DE1, your third run will last for a few minutes - just like the 15th. The game takes roguelite to its maximum: you die repeatedly and constantly. It's not punishment for your mistakes - it's your punishment for buying the game, because this deathloop is the only way to progress. Each time, you gain a small amount of exp. Each time, you become a little stronger. Each time, you die a bit later. Never before have I met a game that requires literally breaking through the levels with your face. Fairly solid roguelike. I rarely felt like a run ending was out of my hands - the game tends to be generous enough with drops that, if you're strategic, you can get decently far even with low upgrades. Sex scenes are unlocked by being defeated, and can be accessed from the main menu. Very helpfully, once you've beaten the final boss, all scenes are unlocked automatically, so you don't need to grind for every single one. Generally, each type of monster has a certain number of scenes, and there are about six or seven monsters for a decently large number of scenes. I will say, a solid fifth of those scenes are about loss of virginity, if that matters. Although, on the topic of grinding, one thing that bothered me was randomly finding the upgrade currency on the ground. While it was a nice idea, it meant that in the later stages I was essentially walking on every tile of the floor to make the most of every run. That being said, it only took me five hours to 100% the game, so it wasn't THAT grindy. All in all, good scenes and a solid gameplay loop. I'd say it was focused more on smut than gameplay, but overall it was a good balance.

I really enjoyed this nostalgic, turn-based roguelike experience. The progression system feels just right, and it makes me curious to see what comes next. There seem to be quite a few items scattered around, which makes exploring all the more fun. That said, the monsters’ backside designs are a bit of a downside for me.

Escape Dungeon is a decent (+18) game that has a solid foundation, but doesn’t fully escape its main issue: repetition. It’s not a bad experience overall — in fact, it can be quite enjoyable at the beginning — but over time, the gameplay loop starts to feel repetitive, especially when going for full completion. 🎮 Gameplay The core gameplay works well. It’s easy to understand and offers some fun moments, especially during the early runs. There’s enough challenge to keep things interesting at first. However, progression relies heavily on grinding. To reach maximum levels and fully upgrade everything, you need to repeat the same actions over and over again. 🔁 Repetition & Grind This is where the game starts to lose its appeal.
