About Escape from Blackwood

This game simulates an escape room in a fantasy castle. The player starts in a closed dungeon and must try to escape as quickly as possible. To do this, the player can inspect, drag, throw, and interpret objects to obtain new clues to solve new puzzles.

There are too many color-based puzzles that do not include accessibility features for colorblind persons. Although you can start playing right away, you may want to go through the tutorial to get a sense of what the game is about. The controls are identical to those used in any other first-person game. You can move around, jump, crouch, or run. This isn't a platformer, but you'll need all of your talents because items are occasionally concealed in unexpected places. The goal is to get out of the castle by solving puzzles in rooms. Each room requires you to solve logic puzzles and use objects to arrive at a solution. The bulk of items are purely decorative, however some can be picked up and examined. Vital items are marked with yellow when you get close. Items can be picked up, rotated, or tossed. Except for a torch and keys, you may only carry one thing. When brought close to the correct spot, they immediately interact with their surroundings. For instance, the torch lights up when you move it over a fire. Sometimes an object's outline might help you see exactly what you're looking for.
