Played this game in coop, took us 11 hours to beat it and boy it was a blast, the final boss was absolute 10/10. highly recommend if you enjoy souls game.
For a single dev indie game it's pretty good. However unless you enjoy playing indies for the sake of playing indies then the game is not worth the time. Combat is fine, level design is also fine (from what I saw within the first 30min), UI is revolting and the graphics are just bad (by bad I don't mean old, eg DS1 graphics are great despite being old). The biggest problem is that there was just nothing that would hook me in. After wandering around the first level a bit I just closed the game out of boredom. Within the first 30min nothing happens. No cool boss fight, no cool loopbacks, no cool story. Just a generic "here is some trash enemies and loot sprinkled around the level". Overall, Estencel is a bottom of the barrel "souls". I would rather play LoTF 2014 (which I thought was boring) than this.
If you're going to make a "souls like" to be difficult, don't let enemies hit you through walls.
