Evil Awaits was an awesome experience from start to finish. If your a fan of the classic Resident Evil games , you'll definitely love this. The game has that same tense, creepy atmosphere where your constantly on edge, solving puzzle's, and trying to survive 10/10.2 found this helpful
Evil Awaits, developed and published by Chai Games, is a third-person survival horror title that combines gothic atmosphere, exploration, action combat, and mystery-driven storytelling into a dark and surprisingly ambitious experience. Built around the investigation of a catastrophic incident connected to an ancient family curse, the game embraces many of the classic elements that defined older survival horror titles while adding more modern combat systems and cinematic presentation. The result is a tense adventure filled with dangerous creatures, eerie locations, and a constant sense of dread that keeps players engaged from beginning to end. The game’s strongest quality is easily its atmosphere. From the opening moments, Evil Awaits creates a heavy sense of isolation through its environmental design and haunting presentation. The world surrounding Archdale Castle feels abandoned, cursed, and dangerous long before the player fully understands the horrors hidden within it. Usually when someone says a game is a "clone" of one game or another it's intended to be a pejorative. So let me change up the language a bit as the last thing I want to do is accidentally offend this developer. This game is very clearly inspired heavily by RE4. The setting, the flow of the gameplay, environments, and lots of small details demonstrate that the dev wasn't trying to hide it. Now, RE4 and RE4R are two of the best games ever made, so it has really big shoes to fill. And honestly? With the context that this is an indie game in mind, this was a phenomenal attempt. No, it's clearly not as good as RE4/RE4R. But it also stands head and shoulders above the countless other indie attempts at TPS horror games that I've played recently. And probably the best part of all? There were several sections that gave me the exact same feeling in particular combat that RE4 does. Right tool for the job, positioning, target prioritizing, etc. are all core to the RE4 combat loop, and I'm very happy to say it's present here. Another point of praise (double-edged sword–more on that in a moment) is that the game kept the scope under control. It's short, simple, and focused. So the dev di…2 found this helpful
Gameplay is solid, combat enjoyable, and ambience spooky, some of the animations/bosses are a bit janky and the game is quite short but survival horror's usually are on the shorter side, quite enjoyed myself.2 found this helpful
ITS OK I WAS INTO IT JUST NEED TO MAKE THE ANIMATIONS MORE smooth and everything i do if its shooting running walking just feels clunky other than that i like the game1 found this helpful
Buggy as hell beat a boss fight with 2 bosses and was randomly launched into a wall and killed. Avoid game at all costs even on sale
