Interstellar: The Video Game *kinda*

I played through the whole game and here is my review: I love cosmology, sci-fi, and space, and I also grew up riding BMX and mountain bikes over jumps - so this game is a great fit in that regard. The game was recommended to me online after discussing my enjoyment of 'momentum games' like HASTE. I purposefully didn't look up too much gameplay footage so that I could keep some mystery going. I was quite hyped upon launching it and playing the first couple levels, but to be honest, the excitement wore off a bit as the game went on for me. It felt like a strong 'artistic expression' game, so I am happy that the creator actualized their vision, but it feels like there are some crucial misses here that make it less of a 'great game' and put it more in the category of an 'interactive experience'. Pros: - Fantastic atmosphere and vibes. The clouds, water, and bright lights really took you on a ride into the cosmos or brought the alien planets to life. - One of the coolest ship control schemes I've ever encountered in a game. The 'gravity altering' and glide mode ideas are very cool, and force you to read the terrain in a way that spaceship games usually don't. - The sense of speed is c…

[h1]Rating: 10/10 -Masterpiece[/h1] [h1]TLDR:[/h1] [b]An interactive piece of sci-fi art.[/b] I remember seeing one video about this game and being instantly hooked on the gameplay. [h1]Positive:[/h1] [b]Gameplay:[/b] Simple yet addicting. You control a ball that can morph into a disc to glide. It's all about keeping momentum. You need to push your weight down on slopes to gain speed and activate glide mode to carry over the momentum into air time. The terrain around you is very dynamic and you have to constantly keep an eye out for new slopes. [b]Visuals:[/b] The visuals are stunning. There are many different locations that each have their own color grading. You fly through the clouds and end up in the sky where the bright sun blinds your eyes. The level endings catapult you away from the planet and you start seeing this weird wall of lights flying towards you from 2001: A Space Odyssey ( if you've seen the movie, you might know what I mean). There's also a water planet with shiny blue water. The game is a real treat to look at. [b]Music And Audio Design:[/b] The game mixes chilled music and environmental sounds together. [h3] I feel like I saw everything everywhere all at once - from the Big Bang to the very last past instant. [/h3] The story has depth and successfully drew me in, and yet, there's so little dialogue - always vague, at that! I think this resumes the game in its entirety. There is so [i] little [/i], how can it feel so [i] full [/i]?? Anyway, a very atmospheric game - and really good at it, a beautiful experience, 10/10, get it now.

I'm not yet finished, but this is one of my favorite indie experiences in recent memory. Such beautiful, exhilarating sights and sounds, with just enough control over what's happening. Amazing & thank you to the dev <3
