What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Fair and Square is a roguelike platformer with squad-based combat that suffers from limited content, lazy visuals, and minimal impact from its upgrade system. Players note the absence of co-op modes, slow pacing, and lack of meaningful updates since release, making it feel incomplete despite claims of being the full version. The game may appeal to Vampire Survivors fans seeking a similar experience, but most reviewers find it falls short compared to the crowded field of retro platformers available on Steam.

Fair and Square is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. Gameplay involves adapting to increasingly difficult enemy waves and strategic skill upgrades. None of this is a good idea, and none of it was implemented even remotely competently. Considering this came out in 2025 alongside games like Expedition 33 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, it's easy to see why this was a complete and utter failure. Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surpri…3 found this helpful
There is no co op, online or local. The game is so slow, and the upgrades do not seem impactful. Maybe good if you like games like vampire survivors1 found this helpful
Raw: weak feedback, clear lack of testing, very little content, some features "locked until full version", while this seemed to be the full version. Also, seemingly no updates since release a year ago
