Surprisingly Fun Despite Being a Hot Mess

Recommendation
If you're looking for a dungeon crawler game for kids, try Torchlight II before you get this game. Unlike Fate Reawakened, Torchlight II is easy to mod (and it doesn't need mods nearly as badly as Fate Reawakened does). If you do get Fate Reawakened game, get a hold of someone somewhat technical. You need both a mod tool as well as a mod that allows you to adjust the gold, experience, and fame you get in the game. I am not in any way joking when I say that you need 200 times the gold the game gives you. I found what I needed on Nexus Mods in case you want a place to start looking.
The Hot Mess Part 1: The In-Game Economy
The in-game economy is something I could only see for truly die-hard gamers (and NOT for kids). The amount of gold you get versus what you need is utterly ridiculous. And the only thing I can figure is that the economy is so broken is because the developers didn't implement a tiered gear structure. What I mean by a tiered gear structure is what you will find in Torchlight II. You start out getting a piece of leather armor, and then you work on up to some kin…

Guess my FATE was to play better ARPGs all along. Was curious were Torchlight started, but really should have reminded myself of those games before buying the beta version of a mediocre aRPG (a game that is so much a clone of this game it's user manual on steam has the heading "FATE User Manual"). No personality, no story, no progression in both item, character and sense of exploration. Devs hate fun so much theres a tiny stamina wheel to wander 2.1 billion of the same tedious floors. Why did that need to be a resource management feature? It does nothing but make exploring the nooks and crannies awful. Couldn't even bring myself to do one loop of one "version" of this game. I get why back in the day you might have loved killing time on this, when it's all you had access to on your dads PC, but your on Steam, you have so much choice at your finger tips, including cheaper options that paints random generation as content (it's filler). Spare yourself, there's a reason games have moved on from these systems.

I wanted to give this a fair shake, being a lover of the original FATE, but this just feels like a sloppy console port - which is bizarre for a remaster of a PC exclusive. You have less slots for spells (6 down from 12) and use items (4 down from 6). Things that used to be on dedicated buttons are now relegated to sub-menus (ie: pet inventory is now an inventory submenu, whereas before it was on the "P" key). Your status effects don't seem to be displayed anywhere (previously under your pet's buttons in the upper left corner, now you seemingly cannot see how long you are poisoned). The game performs well, and it's nice that the UI isn't scaled all broken with aspect ratio like the classic games, but what could've just been a visual overhaul for some reason mangled a lot of the original functionality. I also don't have much hope for the game improving these problems, seeing as Gamigo has switched priority from polishing the game to creating DLC for it. I'd probably just recommend getting one of the original games. It's gonna be cheaper, and they have a better eye for gameplay tuning.

I genuinely love the Fate games. To have all the games in one place with updates and beautiful graphics make me so happy. Down sides are fishing for your money is broken not a single yellow, but to counter that the quests reward lots of gold. I also can't bring over my ring saved from over 20 retirements (it was so powerful I can't loose and don't even take damage wearing it.)
