Fishbowl

I'm a bit conflicted because I love the artstyle, played the demo and enjoyed it enough to buy it. I'm not opposed to cozy story driven games (Coffee Talk is one of my favourites) but this one got to a point where I was just skipping the dialogue. It got really repetitive and really boring, the "gameplay" loop is quite literally the same for WAAAAY too long and once i maximized the bar enough i just started skipping the chores (because they literally felt like chores lol). Honestly got to a point where I was just powering through to see the end. Also is it just me or the fish literally does ... nothing? I don't think I did anything with it other than read their "oh no oh no" dialogue every time the main character had their depression moments. Idk, feels like not much wouldve changed if the fish wasn't there. I feel like there is more that could've been done with this game, or put a little bit more ... story? I can't express enough how boring the dialogue got (and the game is all dialogue pretty much lol) just because nothing was happening and the story was essentially the same the whole game. A bummer.

This game was very oddly relevant to some things that I went through in life and that definitely made the emotions hit harder. Fishbowl is a very story rich game with beautiful characters that shape the life of Alo and help her get through hard times. There are not enough words for me to describe how wonderful, how fullfilling, and how joyous this game is, despite the hard topics it touches. This is a game that will stay with me for my whole life. I am so grateful to have played it.
