fishy (2021)

[h2]DIVE IN[/h2] Fishy is a short yet intriguing entry in the Spooktober Jam from 2021, and the team has a created a nice jam during the month they worked on. The game follows a nameless protagonist (that you get to name), who has an intense fear of water - and to her horror her classmate decided to host her birthday party and sleepover at the local aquarium. Will the protagonist work through her fear of the underwater world, or will she succumb to nightmarish visions? I wouldn't say much because you'd probably play the VN faster than you can read a review about it, but I will not that the I did enjoy on the note the game ended on but also wish there was a bit more focus on the horror present in the game.

"fishy" isn't a game. It's an e-book dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual novel/e-book/fan-fiction, this has no notable gameplay. It's just clicking through badly written dialogue that would never be accepted in print by an actual professional publisher. How did something this badly written end up on Steam? When someone can't get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam Direct under the guise of a game. This is a thankfully short non-game e-book that deals with a girl who gets lost while trying to make friends in an aquarium, and features some encounters with aquarium themed monsters. As with all non-game e-books on Steam, the writing is particularly bad, on par with your average high school fan-fiction. This was slapped together with the godawful Ren'Py visual novel construction kit... enabling terrible authors to publish books as if they were games when otherwise we might have been spared the pollution. Adorable. sweet, and made me quietly sob at 12 in the morning. Short and sweet visual novel that will lightly emotionally attack those who convince themselves that their friends hate them every ten minutes.

was short, but a very cool game/story! couldnt figure out how to get one of the pictures for the gallery but i still loved it!

This game is super Cute and Relatable, although I don't personally have a fear of the Ocean (Quite the opposite in fact) the Idea of being Abandoned by people that you thought of as your friends played ith my heart strings <3
