I really enjoyed this horror game. Great jump scares and kept me on my toes all the way through.
This is an enjoyable investigation into a creepy monastery with quite a dark history. Jumpscares aplenty. The ending states "to be continued". Yes, let's find out what happens to our protagonist after retrieving the artifact. Who are these people and what have you gotten yourself into? *You do NOT have to light the torches before grabbing the chalice.* All achievements work fine.
Folcroft Monastery is a fresh and immersive step into a dark and eerie world that left me wanting more! As someone who appreciates great sound design, I have to say Black Knife Games absolutely nailed it. The atmosphere was chilling, and every moment kept me on edge in the best way possible. The puzzles were clever and well thought out—challenging but never frustrating as long as you paid attention to your surroundings. The jump scares were effective and used sparingly, which made them feel impactful rather than overdone. The pacing of the story was spot-on, and the writing felt intentional and cohesive. It’s clear the developer put a lot of thought into crafting a narrative that made sense while keeping the tension high. If you’re a fan of atmospheric horror games with smart puzzles and a gripping story, Folcroft Monastery is a must-play! Highly recommended!
Read the discussion on not being able to light one torch. I had that same experience. Not recommended
It's mainly made out of jumpscares . It did get me a few times. The puzzles are too simple. The game files is quite large. Could be better optimized. Looks good with some great details. Looking forward to the sequel. Hopefully it'll happen. Other than that, it's fine.
Yet another "Penny Dreadful" game - because it's price is less than a cup of good coffee, and because it's dreadful - but this time, in the good sense of the word. While i have to admit that Folcroft Monastery is suffering from most of the common problems shared between these small horror games done by a single person (sound volume settings are not working, no running, no game saving, poor optimization, etc), this one is at least funny and, at least once or twice - really scary. So i will my "recommended" review and i do hope that Black Knife Games will create second game - and it will be a bit better than this one.
