The premise of this game is fantastic and right up my alley. In reality, this game falls short in quite a few aspects. - The AI is incredibly inconsistent and performs completely differently on a track-by-track basis. Sometimes I’m lapping the field, sometimes I’m getting absolutely gapped. Could be a skill issue, but it feels off. The AI also will just ram you off the track - zero attempts to avoid contact - they will constantly spin you out. With some racing games, navigating through traffic is fun and a good challenge - here, it’s just a complete slog. - The physics also make no sense whatsoever. Every car understeers like crazy, and the handling model doesn’t behave in a logical way. Tire degradation is also frustrating - everything is fine until they hit 30% health, which then immediately makes the car undriveable. It’s like a switch. A shame, because this game has a lot of potential.5 found this helpful
I love the vibe of this game. The small, cartoony yet detailed cars look amazing, the tracks evolve naturally and look fantastic, and the UI changes for each era are nigh-on perfect. For an unofficial arcade-style racer, it honours the history of F1 in a way the official games stay away from. The legally-distinct driver / team names are hilarious too (Gerd Berg, Chuck Morris, Nicholas Goatifi). The game runs decently, if not spectacularly. I haven't encountered any game-breaking bugs, though the AI can act like the edges of the track (or the player) don't exist. The amount of content justifies the base game price, though releasing DLC packs of only 2 or 3 cars seems a little harsh. Only the season packs for early 2010s and late 2020s seem worth it, and maybe the Formula E pack. The biggest problem with the game involves the combination of the handling and some track design. The somewhat delayed steering of the cars (especially the older ones) on the 'not-Nordschleife' and vintage 'not-Monaco' felt like driving a wet leaf. The penalty system for track limits is also pretty inconsistent. Overall, I would recommend it as a great arcade-esque racing experience to long-time fans of F…5 found this helpful
The Cartoon-y effect to this game is phenomenal. Would recommend.
This Game has So much potential and i would love to give it a thumbs up But there 2 problems that hold it back immensely a very big problem is the AI its either to easy but it wont crash into you and you out lap them in 2 laps or you make them harder and they keep up but they ram and pitmaneuver you every chance they get its very bad there is a multiplayer but its in closed beta so cant say anything about that The second problem is one i probably only have but there is a part off it that affects everyone my problem is controllers have stickdrift even with 100% a deadzone you turn to one side you keep turning to it ever so slightly but the part of the problem that affects everyone is there is literally no place to ask for help the discord has no help channel the sub reddit is apply for post and i dont think there is a forum in its current state i cant recommend it but with literally only changes to the ai it already would be worth
I was going to put this off until I had more hours but, here we go. I like this game. I really do. its not without its fauts, (what game isnt?). and the only reason I like this game is because it's fun; a lot more fun than I wanted it to be. I want to stress that this game is strictlly for fans of acrade racing, who dont mind the occasion al jank, and AI opponents with the survival instict of a lemming
There is no substitute to actual, real love for the sport and its stories. This game proves that. Graphics or even the licences are not what makes formula racing interesting. Beware of the hubris of thinking this is a Mario Kart-esque Racing Game or crash out immediately in turn 1.
