About Forsaken Portals
Forsaken Portals is a top down space simulation game with accompanying story. It takes place in an open world - mankind has gained the know how to travel to other star systems of the Milky Way, discovered foreign races and cultures and wants to spread out and establish a human civilization in other star systems. The very big fame beckons for ship captains in the interstellar tournament, which mankind wants to win at any price.
Explore huge hand designed worlds in space, each of which has its own story to tell. Alien races, factories, resources, space stations, every world is different and exciting.
No one can survive alone in space. Trade with alien races to ensure your survival and build a trading empire. For traders there are also special ship modules that display helpful information about trade routes on the galaxy map.
Not all inhabitants in space are friendly. Sometimes it is necessary to defend oneself or to assert one's interests militarily. Experience turn-based battles that offer plenty of room for strategic and wise action.
Your ship is not fully responsible for your strength in a fight. To arm yourself most effectively, you need to find new weapon blueprints, build them and create a deck. The more you know about your opponent before the fight, the better you can pick your weapons.
In Forsaken Portals there are 5 ship classes, from small to large:
Install modules in your ship to gain special abilities. Some modules help to locate resources, others show the trade goods of remote stations or help to get information about the armament of enemy ships.
An own space station offers the possibility to craft items, to maintain and improve the ship, to cultivate organic materials and serves as a base for exploring places that could not be reached otherwise.
Items, weapons, upgrades for ships and space stations, all this can be produced if you have access to the necessary materials.
Many years ago, an unknown species installed portals to travel through the galaxy. Unfortunately, they do not work anymore. Are you the one who can reactivate them and pave the way for the different races to travel again?

The "Energy" drains so quick in this game, most of the ships lose 1% just doing a 180 in space. You will find yourself not within any range of any station to get fuel and end up "emergency calling" which takes 100 cash from you and literally removes everything from your inventory other than space dust. So everything you spent time on getting, is gone. I hit a spot where I needed to get to a portal, which was around 4000 AM away, my ship can't go farther than 1200 AM MAX, so I just kept running out of energy. There were no stations between the portal and myself other than a crafting facility that has no fueling capabilities for some strange reason. So you can buy a space station from there for a huge chuck of money, but now you can't place it unless you are 110 AM away from the facility. Well, I had 1% energy left, so I guess I gotta do emergency call again. Get warped back 1200 backwards instead of anything closer, fly almost to the crafting facility and then place down the space station so I can refuel. I then had to use the last of my money to get another space station, fly as far as I could, and drop it down so I can refuel. I can finally make it to the portal, but there is als…25 found this helpful
I bought Forsaken Portals cheap on sale. During the first few hours of playing, I liked this game. I appreciate Indie games trying to do something different, and this looked like a casual version of the X series. But the further I got in the game, the more apparent it became that this store page is riddled with deceptions. For that reason, I do not recommend the game. It should have been honest about what it is - a battle card game with the theme of a space simulator. Instead, it hypes up game play elements that do not exist: 1) The universe is not "huge." There are a few, sequentially unlocked space sectors with a clear, one-way direction through. 2) You don't "build your own space stations", you buy 1 of 2 prefab options and decide where to plop it down. 3) Upgrading your ship is not how you defeat "the strongest enemies in the galaxy." For that you have to upgrade your card deck, which is not specific to your ships. 4) You will not "build a trading empire.' Prices do not fluctuate, there is no supply/demand dynamic, and your small cargo hold is the same size even as you progress through the ship choices. 5) There are no "huge hand designed worlds" to explore. The same stati…5 found this helpful
Fun game so far! Travelling doesn't take too much time imo and there is even some hidden content on the map for those who like to explore it. Crafting as well as gathering resources doesn't take too long. All in all feels like a solid game.5 found this helpful

Addictive and fun... but it requires some patience1 found this helpful
The card space battle system was new to me and I liked it. The game has a solid base. The only thing I didn't like is walking inside my empty (of persons) space station to feed the different subsystems, something that should be automated: the station is like a factory requiring manual attention (instead of being programmed what to do), that seems odd in the era of space travel. Plays natively on Linux without a glitch.1 found this helpful
