Freddi Fish and Luther's Water Worries

This is a rare time the game getting mixed reviews makes sense, it really IS a mixed bag. And I can fairly judge this game, since I used to also play it in my childhood, and I'll be honest, it may actually be worse to play for kids. It's not that it's the hardest Junior Arcades title from Humongous Entertainment, far from it, but what is required of the player to succeed is something kids(especially younger me) just don't have often: patience. To succeed you need to shoot the bubbles because if they hit the surface, it'll get lower and lower, until there's no place for Luther to swim in. But the dilemma here is that, if you patiently shoot one pelt per click at a time, you may not be quick enough to remove enough bubbles before the level gets deflooded from water. But if you just hold down mouse one(M1) button, Luther will quickly tire out and waste a lot of time in a cool down. So to actually effectively play the game, you have to either very quickly click m1, or hold it for a bit, then stop for a second, then continue holding it and so on, basically managing an overheat mechanic of sorts. [b]Worm Doodles! [i]You've gotta have em![/i][/b] I know Luther is a big fan of the chocolate covered Worm Doodles. I'm more of a RED flavor fanatic, myself. Anyways, this is a fun little game that is not too difficult. It does get a little trickier as time goes on, but overall I don't remember it being particularly hard as a kid when I was the target demographic. Now, I'd still say it is not to bad, though can be a bit frustrating at times due to certain mechanics. I appreciated getting a Luther focused game. Freddi isn't left out, though. You can actually play this game with two players, and the other will play as Freddi. This choice actually changes the ending of the game too. That's a genuinely cool aspect of the game, I'd say. All in all, I would say this is worth picking up, but I would suggest doing so on sale and perhaps within either the Freddi Fish Complete Pack or the Humongous Entertainment Complete Pack

Mediocre! And VERY VERY BORING! So the gameplay is basically, bubbles come up from the bottom of the screen, if they reach the surface of the water (which gradually lowers over time) then the bubble pops and you get nothing. Popping bubbles with your slingshot drops something. It could be just a little animated fish that does nothing then swims away, it could be a useful powerup, it could be an item you need to progress, or if it's a red bubble, it might be a hazard. This game does not have 'over 100 levels' it just has 100 levels. I only really started to notice a difference in difficulty during maybe the last 3 or 4 levels of the game. I never lost a life my entire playthrough and ended with a score of about 72,000 or something with 54 lives. By the way, the game has inherent autofire on the slingshot, so you just hold LMB for the most part. However, when you do that I think Luther gets tired, or something. However, the game only checks how long you've been holding the button, so if you have say a mouse macro that just spams M1 (this comes in handy in all sorts of games so I didn't make the binding for this one) then you never have to deal with Luther getting tired. It's a cute, lovely, little game, but it's so simple and outdated that I can't recommend it to children. However, a deep gratitude to the developers for their positive contribution to our childhood!
