Stepping out of Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 with a cheeriness in my heart and a justified fear that the everything in the story was about to hit the fan, I immediately ventured into the third and final Fuga game to see this trilogy to its proper conclusion. And my god, the Fuga trilogy might be my favourite set of games I have played this year, for the love and heart that the develops have put in this game make me feel all giddy. Like the previous two games, Fuga 3 is phenomenal and I cannot recommend it enough. Of course, I will preface this review by saying: I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU PLAY THE PREVIOUS TWO GAMES IN ORDER. The game does provide a feature to summarize and recap the events of those games on the main menu, but you rob yourself of the emotional involvement and smaller details that come attached with the other games. A demo is available to test the waters and see if the games mesh with you, but don't do yourself a disserve by playing the games out of order. Still, if you ARE jumping in for the first time, you have a lot to look forward to and I think you will enjoy what is presented here. (Note: this will be a very long one! I have a lot to say :0) Much like Fuga 2, y…

Well, that’s it, the trilogy of ‘Melodies of Steel’ has come to an end. To be honest, I really enjoyed this game. And yet, it’s this very game that leaves me with the most mixed feelings. And I’m not talking about the plot or the characters - I actually quite liked them. It’s the most ambitious instalment in the series, expanding the game’s world to the very limit. I enjoyed this lore and the expansion, but I can understand those who might feel that the developers have gone too far and made things too convoluted. As for what I personally didn’t really like, I’d say that the new mining mini-game is rather dull and feels like a pointless addition. On the one hand, it’s good that you can fully automate it and not have to give it a second thought. On the other hand, if the only advantage of a dull game is that you can get through it fast, surely it could have been made more interesting. I’d also remove the silhouettes of the characters yet to be unlocked in the Assist System. When you don’t know in advance exactly who will be unlocked once you’ve met the relevant criteria, it adds more interest and intrigue. The same goes for a child who wants to fire the Soul Cannon to save the …

This one went full anime in a bad way, the combat was way to easy, it does add a crazy amount of QOL features though that make a "second playthrough" more just jumping to exactly the point you need to just make out all your stats and see all the endings, although this in turn cheapens the experience. Overall I'd still recommend if you get it like half off and just need to see how the story ends. One thing that really bothers me about this entire series is NG+ only ever gets easier so like the first time you play the game will always hypotactically be the most difficult and it's not particularly difficult as I've run through all three games without ever having to use the soul cannon.
