About The Last Remnant™
Lead a young man across a world torn by power-hungry factions wielding ancient Remnant artifacts in this sprawling RPG with deep strategic combat and hundreds of characters. Experience an upgraded battle system with turbo mode, flexible union creation, and the freedom to customize your approach to one of Square Enix's most ambitious stories.
These four races exist in one world.
A world filled with Remnants — mysterious artifacts from an ancient era.
Who created the Remnant? How long ago? And for what purpose?
With these questions left unanswered, the Remnants became beneficial tools used for the good of civilization.
The world was at peace...or so it seemed. Who was to know such darkness lay in wait?
The powers of the Remnants slowly began to change the world's balance.
A rift slowly formed between those who ruled and those who obeyed.
This was the dawning of a new era — an era of countless frays that would be brought upon the world by those enslaved by their own lust for power.
A thousand years later, the journey of one young man begins.
Featuring an enthralling story, countless characters and an intricate battle system, Square Enix brings the RPG experience known as The Last Remnant to the PC.
Discover new strategies in the improved battle system.

Players appreciate The Last Remnant's unique union-based combat system that sets it apart from other JRPGs, along with its solid music, character design, and charm, though some note the main character can be annoying. However, the game's very Japanese sensibilities, quirky tone, and less intuitive gameplay mechanics don't appeal to everyone, and there's widespread frustration that the game is no longer available for purchase, with many hoping for a remaster or remake.
In my quest to play all games in my library (and stop playing them when I'm fed up or straight dont like them) I stumble upon this one. I got it in a random budle sometime in the distant past. Look, I know it's a somewhat cult classic and has it's fans, but it's simply not for me. I'm not a huge JRPG fan in the first place, but this one... well... it's just too Japanese for me. All the quirkyness of it all just doesnt click with me. I'm not enjoying it and I'm sure as hell not spend 60 hours of my life in it. So, see my thumbs down with a ton of salt, it's just a statement the I didnt like what I played. In any case it's not even available to buy anyway, so this is all kinda irrelevant lol Plays great on the Deck though.1 found this helpful
I forgot that I had this game. I think I liked it...1 found this helpful
The Last and best of the great JRPG era. Loading up for the first time for a new save in a few years. Got GooseBumps. Here we go, adult responsibilities are fleeting. Last Remnant is forever.
Despite its issues the game combat system is UNIQUE till this day (2026) sure i wish i could have 100% control over it ... But the union system is just a amazing and im super sad theres no more like it ... Having to create multiple squads and choose who goes where so that the squad goes Melee/Magic/Healer or Hybrid is amazing ... The mc (Rush) is anoying and is just graced by plot armour and special powers but over all not the worst thing iv seen The story is OK usualy i dont complain much about story since i forget most of it and just focus on game mechanics ... The music is good actualy and the Character Design are cool too till this day i still have a picture of Mad Ludope (crazy bunny guy) on my pc lol Overall its sad the game died and no one can get it anymore wish we could get a remake or remaster with very few improvents to combat (br system is stupid) But very good game in my opinion
Very good game! The main character is a bit dorky lol. The voice acting is decent. The gameplay is a bit awkward but it has a certain charm to it. Love the characters.
i m waiting the remaster
