"Funfair" is quite a disaster. At face value this is a VR exclusive collection of minigames set at a fairground, where you use VR controllers to throw balls through hoops and so on. There's so much wrong with this, it's not easy to choose even where to start! This isn't really a game. It's a demo designed to both test and advertise a software package/game construction kit called the "Virtual Reality Toolkit" which the developers both proudly and foolishly plaster over the top of this dumpster fire. And this not being a sincere game is really where the problems properly start. I'm not here to tell developers what to do, especially failed ones. But it's worth explaining what went wrong here so gamers can understand why it's not worth bothering downloading this, and to help spot when similar abuses of Steam are taking place. First of all, developers should never use Steam as a "test" ground, but Funfair is clearly designed as a "test" in the developers own words. The advertisement is unfinished and abandoned... seriously, these guys are trying to sell their "Virtual Reality Toolkit" construction kit, and their shining example is an abandoned, broken Early Access demo dumpe…2 found this helpful
Funfair by TheStonefox is a virtual reality carnival experience that aims to recreate the charm of a small amusement park through a collection of interactive mini-games. Rather than presenting a structured progression or narrative-driven gameplay, it offers a freeform environment where players can explore a handful of attractions and engage with them at their own pace. Upon entering the game, players are placed in a compact fairground setting populated with familiar attractions such as shooting galleries, dart boards, basketball-style hoops, and strength-testing games. Each activity is designed to be immediately accessible, requiring little explanation or adjustment. The emphasis is on physical interaction—throwing objects, aiming with motion controls, and engaging with the environment in a tactile way. For players new to VR, this can be one of the more enjoyable aspects of the experience, as it highlights the intuitive nature of motion-based gameplay. However, while the initial novelty is effective, it quickl…1 found this helpful
