Future? No Thanks!

As someone who's lost multiple family members in the past year due to age, one of which who wished for euthanasia were it to be offered (among... other things), this was one of the more moving games that I've played in recent memory. I played Harvey's journey as one of self-discovery and redemption for a bitter and breaking old man. A person lost in self-imposed cave of bitter loneliness, who once looked at a bright world to eventually see it fade into looking at candlelight, before snuffing out the candle itself to only return the cave toward its natural state: darkness. But, more critically, a person who sees a glimmer of light through the cracks of the cave he built for himself over the decades of his life. I would recommend going into this with an open mind, as while I am the target audience for this type of humor politically and socially (seriously, loved many of the jokes in this game!), I do recognize that some of the humor requires the right kind of mindset to get into, both personally and sociologically, in a sense. A true delight, whether you're an anarchist, communist, or anarcho-communist. I've been playing Molleindustria's Flash games for well over a decade and while they had good politics they could also sometimes be a bit preachy or pat. Here, abundant humor helps the big ideas go down. Puns, one-liners, visual absurdity, expert skewering of niche ideological subcultures ... just an unprecedented amount of belly laughs per minute. Right-wing comedians dream of skewering the left this well, but could never, because they don't come from Pedercini's place of deep love and genuine radical hope for a better world. What's the point of imagining a utopia forever on the horizon? To keep laughing every step you take toward it.

A joy to play and see, amazing dialogues and delicious cultural/social commentary. I loved the utopian theme, in an era of dystopian games. Bonus points: it runs perfectly on Linux, out of the box.

I can't believe this is an accurate description of the game but: one of the world's last boomers makes a bucket list of cancelable earthly pleasures before offing himself in a socialist utopia he no longer feels a part of. What a wild ride. The mechanic of basically fetch quests operates as a doorway to intergenerational understanding and one of the only actual working depictions of utopia (as opposed to dystopia) I've seen in games. I'd definitely say thanks to that future! But I had a ton of fun grouchily rejecting it as an old curmudgeon. Great dialogue, tons of quips, and I love the eye rolls from the infinitely patient robodog sidekick. Bonus points for all the recognizable Pittsburgh locations and local history!

This game is funny as hell, and the writing and voice acting are exceptional. Yes, it's a game about a socialist utopia and has a clear corresponding political message, but the game so regularly mocks some of the more exasperating aspects of leftist culture it's almost impossible not to like it even if you don't share all the author's views. One of the most interesting games I've played in a long time. It's worth stopping by the library in the game just to read a few pages of a truly memorable cyberpunk translation of "Das Kapital" contained in one of the books, because it is sort of glorious that such a thing exists.
