About Gabriel Knight® 3: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned

One frightening truth.

Welcome to the remote French village of Rennes-le-Château. Gabriel and Grace arrive in this town in pursuit of a kidnapped child, but a deeper, far more frightening story begins to unfold. Whispers of a sacred bloodline, vampires and a boundless treasure set the shadow hunter and his companion on an inescapable path. Their ultimate destiny is to solve a dark mystery held secret for thousands of years.

Play as both Gabriel Knight and Grace Nakimura as you learn more about what is hidden in the hills of France. But beware your life, your faith and your soul. For once the truth is found, there is no erasing it.
  • Encounter intricate puzzles critical to solving this ancient mystery.
  • Find, acquire (and steal) a vast inventory of clues, tools, cash and more - using your clever and devious sleuthing skills.
  • Interact with an eclectic cast of characters - each with their own agenda. Who can you believe?

Once you get over the initial awkwardness of how the game works, it's really fantastic. Other than a few rare instances, the puzzles are actually very intuitive, so I don't understand the moon logic criticism that has been stubbornly attached to this game. It's far easier to play this game without a guide than GK1 or GK2. Have to mount an CD image to play, but other than that I didn't have to jump through any technical hoops. Played with a controller, I made bindings for the DualSense, feel free to check out my controller profile. I found it to work very well. I didn't label it, but the right trigger is a Ctrl+Click which focuses the camera on anything of interest, which streamlines the whole thing. Left trigger for left clicking, right stick for mouse. You can figure out the rest! There's a guide to set it up on Steam Deck that's a little more complex, but it's easy to follow. Really recommend this one. It's really well written, unique, and oddly ahead of its time.

What were they thinking? The Gabriel Knight series was entertaining enough, but to conclude the trilogy with such an unplayable game made no sense. I spent a lot of time finding out how to make it work on my pc just to learn it was just not worth the effort.

This is one of my favorite memories as a kid in 4-5th grade, going to a new friends house for the night and she introduced me to this!!! One i will always come back to!!!

A good old fashioned "mystery meets player." Suspend criticism of the old graphics, and enjoy.

Sadly, the Steam version doesn't work - it still asks for a CD. The game itself is absolutely brilliant, but *not* your typical adventure game. It's more of an investigative adventure game where interaction with people, exploration etc. are key mechanics, rather than straight puzzles. For this reason alone, it's worth a try. But combined with the storyline, which weaves together ancient conspiracies - chef's kiss.
