ゴールド漁師 金條釣手 is one of those completely ridiculous little games that somehow becomes fun precisely because of how strange it is. I play a Japanese style medal game where I have to pull gold bars out of the ocean and get them safely to a transport vehicle while sea creatures try to ruin everything. I honestly enjoyed how absurd the premise is because the game never takes itself too seriously. The main gameplay is built around controlling a fishing rod and carefully hooking the gold bars. That sounds simple, but the fishing line is fragile and the ocean creatures constantly interfere with what I am trying to do. I liked the challenge of keeping the rod under control while watching for attacks, because the easiest looking gold bar is not always the safest one to grab. There is also a nice risk and reward feeling to completing the transport missions. I need to deliver enough gold to earn tokens, but losing too many attempts can leave me with nothing. I enjoyed that arcade style pressure because it makes every successful delivery feel more satisfying.
