Goblin Company

Goblin Company is finally out? As soon as we heard, we obviously had to jump straight in. We spent countless hours playing the demo, and thankfully, the full release did not disappoint. Come on, seize the opportunity! Become the next Goblin and start working for WHAAG MINING INC. Alone or with your friends, the more pickaxes, the better! In Goblin Company, your job is to build a massive network of tunnels and mine as many crystals as possible. The more crystals you collect, the more upgrades you can unlock. Build an extensive railway system to transport your loot and explore deeper into the mines. The whole thing is wrapped up in a really fun and goofy package, which makes dying feel a little less painful. That being said, you can't just completely turn your brain off. On our first run, we managed to waste all our gems, ran out of money for torches and rails, and eventually got ourselves stuck. And why are torches so important? Goblins apparently go insane in the dark... or maybe they're just scared. Either way, you really can't work without proper lighting. Which is a little awkward for a mining company. An incredible crystal. This is a silly little game that has a really cool concept and leans into it. There isn't much more to say beyond what the other reviewers have said, but I also want to add in, the dev is great. This is my first experience reporting a bug to a discord, helping confirm the bug, and immediately seeing it solved in less than a day of confirmation. I've never seen that level of customer service from a big game studio or a 40+ dollar game. I was all ready enjoying the game, it's great co-op wise, and then we came across a glitch that resulted in our deaths. Deaths aren't that big of a deal in this game, but they kept happening and we had zero idea why. I knew it had to be more, reported it to the discord, and we confirmed that it was a visual glitch related to us playing on lower settings. Dev puts out a patch shortly after confirmation and just knowing hey, we're having a fun, uh oh a random glitch might be a barrier to fun, and for the dev to step in to adjust it promptly? That's incredible, I'll be looking for everything else this dev publishes in the future.

The ending was very abrupt. Not really a story to follow. It's alright for the price, but it would've been nicer to have some reason for doing things that don't end with "ok that's all folks". No buildup to speak of. The mouse cursor isn't using the system cursor method and therefore follows the in-game fps with some added latency. This is very annoying.

A fun little game. It is has some rough edges but I enjoyed the time I played it. It is short, so be aware of that. I played with a friend and I think that made the experience better.
