✦ AI summary

Gods Against Machines presents an interesting strategy concept that players find engaging enough for casual play, though it suffers from significant balance issues and repetitive design that limits long-term appeal. Common praise centers on the relaxing gameplay loop and decent content variety once you learn the mechanics, but criticisms focus heavily on poor balance between spells, tedious grinding progression, and mission variety that becomes predictable quickly.

Great idea, hampered by flat execution. What could be great strategy game, with long term planning and building, is reduced to essentially clicker or mobile game, that could be playing itself. Spell selection is underwhelming and has too many similarities between elements. Progression system is grind for +1% more of XYZ. RNG is make or break at beginning and pointless later on, since grinded resources can offset it. Meanwhile missions are all the same scheme, repeated over and over. Same units, same bosses, same buildings just with more HP. Game shows all it has at the start and has little later on to make it worthwhile.

At first it's a bit overwhellming with all different abilities, things like corruption reduction, and all the different enemy buildings. But when you get the hang of it and expanded your arsenal, even Brutal difficulty is a walk in the park. Hint: Read the hints during loadingscreens, they are usefull!!

It is as janky as the negative reviews suggest, but I'm not letting that get in my way of having a good time. I can't put it down - although it obviously not a 'play forever' type game. Going to have fun beating it with every elemental god, then be on may way

Fun enough for the price, but honestly rather poorly balanced. There are absolutely several spells that are complete lemons and worthless no matter how you upgrade them, and some spells that will singlehandedly carry you through the entire campaign. The result is a very swingy experience, where you either sweep the entire game trivially or fail miserably in the first 20 regions.

Overall, I like this game. It does have some issues as others mention in their reviews but IMO it pulls through despite them. Though I was on the fence until I tried my 3rd god and went in a completely different direction than the first two and had fun with it. Try the demo if you're still unsure.

Didn't know what to expect from this game. Though was pleasently surprised. I find it to be a relaxing game with plenty of content. A little bit repetative. Though satisfying.
