Greed and Fear and the Rest is the first installment in the series “The Mind Deceivers”. You play as Rene with only 6 hours left to live. What truth will be revealed at your end?
The Story
Now I have mixed feelings about this visual novel. I love the character of Olive, he really cares and loves Rene. His Uncle is something else, a real disgusting character. If I am reading the implications correctly I get a greater understanding of why Rene is the way he is. Weak, lacks self confidence, scared and needy. You're going to encounter a few routes that are just too quick or not satisfactory until you discover the main routes that bring all the other bits together to form the larger narrative. So basically stick with it. It can be a rough first couple of hours. However when the narrative opens up there are some really neat twists that happen at the end of Chester’s route. The best and only true happy ending of the game is Ending #4: Radiance. Just a heads up if you want to leave the game with a happy ending. ❗ This game deals a lot with suicide so if that is a trigger for you then this game is best avoided. It deals with death and abuse but mainly suicide in m…14 found this helpful
(Note: The English isn't perfect in this game, but they tried. It's actually understandable and even on the topics I wasn't familiar with? I was able to get the gist of it.) Alrighty... This game isn't anything like you'd imagine. This isn't a happy BL title. Like at all. So if you are here for romance and fluffy BL? ... I can only say this: LOL....... Because it is actually INSANE... And weirdly dark... And Psychological. There is a SINGLE "HAPPY ENDING"... But... Not only is it overly short, it will give you a warning saying that "if you like this, don't read the other stuff..." Guess what? I read the OTHER ROUTE FIRST. So I was screwed. But in a strangely, good way. The game does offer you a "BabyWheel"... (That's my favorite word now. Ahaha!) in order to help you get endings and gives you choice indicators... But honestly? I read the TRUE ENDING... Which is, sigh, again a TERRIBLE ending and I am starting to question everyone else's sanity in this entire book! The weirdest part is: The whole read was oddly amusing. I found myself delving into it. Even the psychology parts, which I solely understood from a Spiritualist's point of view. [u]So basicall…3 found this helpful
