About Guntastic

Guntastic is a couch and online party brawler where up to four players battle in lightning-fast, one-shot one-kill rounds that last only 25 seconds – after which anyone who's still alive is forcibly eliminated. Explode your friends in this frantic homage to the 16bit coin-op games of the past!

Features

  • Fast-paced, One-shot One-kill Combat.
Choose from a vast arsenal of weapons and powerups to wreak havoc on your foes.
  • Easy to learn, hard to master gameplay.
Although the basics are easy to pickup, Guntastic offers rich gameplay possibilities so that two matches never play the same.
  • One screen, 4-players online/local multiplayer.
Challenge up to three friends in local couch games or compete against people from around the world in online multiplayer matches.
  • Retro and over-the-top visuals and soundtrack.
Everything in the game is reminiscent of the 16-bit era, and was born out of our love for the videogame and movie classics of the past.
  • Hand crafted, dynamic levels.
Use the environment to your advantage: most levels feature dynamic elements that create spectacular ways to frag opponents!
Too in-elastic
Full review here! You might not immediately think of 2D arena brawlers as being a crowded space, but there sure is a wealth of them. Some sideline their competitive arenas like Spelunky, Rain World, or Shovel Knight Showdown. Some really are exclusively their local/online arena experiences like Retimed, Crashnauts, CHOP, Hookbots, Hot Shot Burn, etc. Many of these are pitched at price points of £10 and above. You could say it’s a genre-wide value proposition quandary. One you’ll have to subjectively confront as a consumer. Developers still need to get sufficiently compensated. Is this inherently more limited genre worth investing in? Some make it work more than others. Guntastic makes me think of how that Halo “30 seconds of fun” quote by Jaime Griesemer has been taken out of context for almost two decades. What he meant was that a core “30 seconds of fun” played out against a background of as much variation in environments, weapons, vehicles, enemies, and scenarios, as you can pack in, was enough for a full game. No 30 seconds are exactly the same. 30 se…

Bought this game on a whim with a buddy over. We had a ton of fun with this game, and loved the hilarity of the characters. The game itself brought us back to a time in college when we used to have a few cocktails the morning after a slammer and run tournaments. Pure nostalgia. Fantastic game, and a ton of fun.

A fantastic retro multiplayer brawler game where every single mistake can lead to you losing a round. It's indeed easy to get into, but like many other brawler games, you need to practice to get skilled and be good at it. The game has beautiful pixel art visuals and there are quite a few levels to choose from. Sometimes it's hard for me to detect where my character is at the beginning of the round, maybe some kind of a visual cute might help but other than this I am having fun playing the game. You can also play vs AI if you like to practice in the game's rules, so check it out. Sharing some of the gameplay and my first impressions here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6qd0F2yMLo

Guntastic is a fast, exciting and fun party game. It's infuriating die for one of the hidden traps and you really enjoy blow the bones of your enemies up! AI is good and the game is still more fun if you play it with friends. As designer I must say that pixel art, music and atmosphere in general behind this work are superlative: it matches the old fashion games graphic with a contemporary touch which give to Guntastic a quite unique personality. Brilliant!

You have definitely seen this premise done 1000 times before. Loads of first time devs will tackle a similar concept. But this one honestly stood out from the pack!! We played as a 4 player group, and had a blast with it. While it's fun to play on PC as-is, I would buy it for the switch in a heartbeat. This is exactly what couch multiplayer is supposed to look like! I haven't tested out any non-multiplayer content. Not sure if there is any? But this game supports online play! So you don't actually need local people to play with, which is a huge bonus for a game like this.
