Hacked: The Streamer

Mid. The setup is interesting and it has it's moments, but majority of character performances are subpar. The way mods are written is awful. Getting proper audio sync seems to be an issue for a few as well. But I appreciate the effort.

I've got this game for free as a review key back when it released. I didn't like it back there and I still not like it now that I've come back for achievements. I don't expect top acting in FMV games all I need is an interesting story which this game failed to deliver. Having played games like The Shapeshifting Detective or Late Shift this game falls flat compared to them, the one time there's a QTE in this game all you have to do is click multiple times on the edges of the screen, then all you do is pick between two choices randomly, since you don't know what the Streamer is actually going to say after your choice (this is actually a common mistake in most FMV games though). They use AI too, for a few scenes the Streamer generates a few images and instead of hiring an artist to replicate AI they used a real AI. Those scenes are mandatory for achievements, and while you are not using AI playing the game (they are pre-recorded videos of AI usage), this is definitely a game you would want to avoid if you are against Gen-AI. While I tried to keep an open mind, this turned out to be pretty bad: awful dialogue, a very weird script and more bugs than are frankly acceptable for such minimal interaction. It's also very short and basically ends as soon as the story gets going. Not even measuring up to something like The Shapeshifting Detective or even a typical Wales Interactive production, there's really no reason to recommend it, unless it's on a very big discount.
