About Hard, Fast, & Flashy

WARNING: THIS GAME IS HARD AS F***!!

Run, jump, and blast your way through an unforgiving cyberscape at breakneck speeds, pushing your mind and body to their limits in the never ending pursuit of perfection.

Studies show that nearly 15% of people enjoy being punished...Do you like it hard and fast?

FEATURES:

  • Precise, first-person shooter meets fast-paced platformer to create a unique speedrunning challenge.
  • 10 levels with difficulties ranging from “It took 15 tries but I finally got it!” to “THIS S*** IS F****** IMPOSSIBLE!!” (though we promise every level is beatable)
  • A pulse-pounding, electronic soundtrack that’s guaranteed to keep your heart pumping.
  • Blaze through a synthwave cyberscape with high-octane, momentum-based movement.
  • Non-linear level design allows for creative strategies to achieve maximum speed - this game is meant to be broken!
  • It’s free! This is a passion project that we want to share with you, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

INSPIRATIONS:

Inspired by challenging, fair, and fast-paced games like Dark Souls, Quake, and Celeste, we sought out to develop a game that combined our favorite parts from each. The result was Hard, Fast, and Flashy: a momentum-based platformer with retro aesthetics and a definitively modern gameplay feel.

UPCOMING FIXES:

  • Improved performance through animation rendering.
  • Improved camera angle (modified FOV, visible feet, centered model).
  • Additional settings for key rebinds, VSYNC, and mouse sensitivity.
  • Reworked physics to allow for greater conservation of momentum and better aerial control.
  • Reworked instructions and menus.
  • Voice acting for player character and main menu.

A decently fun game to keep yourself occupied if you like parkour and a good challenge! Only downside I've seen so far is the movement; for the type of game it is, the movement should be a lot smoother. It feels like I go farther than what I held down for at times, and it feels slippery as well. Worth trying out considering it is free though.

"Hard, Fast, & Flashy" is an extremely badly made, lazy parkour platformer with zero attention to graphics and a soundtrack shamelessly ripped off from Future Crew's Second Reality/Unreal ][ soundtrack from Purple Motion. So we have creative bankruptcy and one of the laziest attempts to make a "game" I've seen here on the shovelware section of Steam Direct for literally hours. What do you do in the game? It's a platformer, but worse. Jump around, uninstall and just watch Second Reality again. That face, when your entire game is worse than a PC demo scene job from the 1990s. Thanks, Steam Direct, once more making gaming worse for everyone. A well intentioned disaster, and "Hard, Fast & Flashy" (which is neither hard, nor fast, nor flashy) is the outcome. The game is really simple and unambitious in terms of implementation, more of a tech demo or one of those cases where an amateur developer spends $100 to publish something on Steam Direct to see if it's possible. Yes, obviously it's possible. A proof of concept, tech demo, or something that's less than a little blip on the radar isn't offering anything truly valuable to gamers. The graphics here are particularly awful, so…
