Hedgewars is a turn-based strategy, artillery, action and comedy game, featuring the antics of pink hedgehogs with attitude as they battle from the depths of hell to the depths of space.

Its a dead game, but still running, works fine and is a lot of fun with friends. And it has a decent documentation if you want to write mods for it. I made some custom maps for it - just for me an my friends and that was super easy.4 found this helpful

Love the weapons and modes, love that's it's free and open source. I played Worms before this came out but now I prefer Hedgewars.
This game is terrific, everyone should play it.
A 2D artillery game like STUG(2023), Worms W.M.D.(2016), Cannon Brawl(2014), Gunbound(2003), Pocket Tanks(2001), Scorched Earth(1991), ect... but not as polished. It needs a smoother UX with better flow so that you don't need to learn a bunch of independent hotkeys specific to that situation. I would recommend the other games in this genre depending on how far back you want to go.
Like this one. Feels like Worms Armageddon, but with hedgehogs. [h1] Recommended [/h1] Worth to play if you haven't enough money to buy it for youself and your friends
