Third person dungeon puzzler, with very basic visuals, and feels unfinished. This is a first impression review. In HellScape: Two Brothers you have control over two adventurers, when you control one, the other one fades into an invulnerability mode. The puzzles are alright, but the textures are far too basic. Justifying by claiming it's hell won't cut it. Same goes for the attack animations, each character has just one, and it feels like they are stock assets. The whole game aires a concept work. Controls: 3/10. It's mouse+kb but doesn't use the kb to move. Instead it requires to keep the right mouse button pressed. Just no. Also, it uses random keys like E or S for actions, instead of sensible ones like ctrl or space. Visibility: 2/10 The illuminated areas are so dark that I can't even see enemies while they are on me. The mage's light is a joke. Legibility: 1/10 Tutorial texts cause strain because they are too small. NPCs texts are even smaller and disappear after half a second. That's utterly ridiculous. Gameplay: 3/10 While there's nothing wrong with old school hack n' slash, having to walk through every corridor/room at least twice, i.e., at least once with each character, is a big freakin' NO. It's a single player game. The other brother should follow, or teleport, or whatever. GUI: 2/10 No save/load. No controls mapping. No font size options. No text speed options. No useful option whatsoever. ESC doesn't work in menus... I'll stop here. There is a lot to fix before that thing becomes remotely enjoyable. By the way, the unskippable intro is so long and boring that I almost went for an instant refund, before reaching the actual game.

HellScape: Two Brothers is, as far as I can tell, a pretty poor Unity asset flip with a bit of badly done custom level design added to the 3D top down brawler template, and with an intro featuring some seriously mediocre "baby's first Wacom tablet" artwork. You can't skip the intro either, so get ready for some pain if you decide you want to play this. Once you get into it, it's just a really bad, sloppy 3D top down brawler, I've played a couple of games using the same template the developers ripped off, and it's a bad one. It's also buggy, I got stuck and couldn't move pretty quickly into the game. No testing done here, obviously, another reason to dodge this bullet. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the mid 2000s. It's unclea…

The game is just a mess imo. The controls are bad which could've been overlooked if that game was actually decent but the combat is atrocious and the maps feel empty. There's little to no explanation for anything. The only thing this game has going for it is it's looks.
