I did not enjoy this successor nearly as much as Hexa Turn - gave up on it before finishing, actually. What frustrated me was that after a few levels, I was mostly trying out paths blindly instead of puzzling them out or planning them in advance, and the game became a chore with one obscure exact path to follow that was never obvious or solvable, at least for me. The game starts out too easy and becomes too difficult later. Your experience might vary... So this is actually closer to "I didn't like it" than a non-recommendation. Absolutely get Hex Turn, however - that one is brilliant.8 found this helpful
As Hexa Turn was about defensive strategy, Hexanome is now about strategic escape. This sequel smartly flips the core mechanic of the previous game, as we are now the triangle, and the game actively tries to block the path to the squares. Honestly, that simple role reversal felt satisfyingly fresh! Hexanome maintains the same minimalist design and thoughtful logic that made the first game great. Totally recommended! And go play Hexa Turn if you haven't yet.
Fundamentally, this game is an inversion of the devs prior game, Hexa Turn. In Hexa Turn you are trying to place hex walls to prevent AI triangles from accessing your squares; in Hexanome, you play a triangle (or group of triangles) trying to capture the AI's squares. As another reviewer said - I liked Hexa Turn a lot better. This feels a lot more trial and error based than Hexa Turn. Like banging on a keyboard to see what works. If Hexa Turn is a Jimmy John's, this is Subway.
Yes.
Good sequel to the first game - same gripe on the first one applies to this one, I would love to just see more levels! 8.5/10
