Awesome game! The mechanics are super fluid and easy to understand, very satisfying when you can combo it all together. There's tons of replayability with the way the campaign is set up, different spells and abilities, mix and match, etc. The graphics are slick too, neat environments, weapons effects and enemy designs. This indie VR roguelite is a hidden gem. I did not expect such a high level of quality for the price. The developers utilize many fun, tried-and-true VR gameplay mechanics, including bullet time, deflecting bullets, and punching to teleport toward and strike enemies. Pretty fun game! Kind of like if you take the timing of super hot's combat and give the player spells, blades and power ups. The combat can be a lot of fun although sometimes it's easy to have enemies sneak up behind you. I got to the end guy and got my butt kicked, but it's a rouge so death and runs are part of the formula.4 found this helpful
Unlike anything I've ever played in VR. The visuals are awesome and the combat is super fluid. Using force lightning to decapitate one demonic skeleton with the body of another will never get old. Kickass sound track too!3 found this helpful
Works on Reverb G2. HexWind is rogue-lite melee focused VR action with SUPER HOT time slow mechanics. It is fun, but unpolished and not very replayable: multiple runs do not have enough variety to warrant a second playthrough, after you finish all 4 acts. Melee combat with slo-mo is physical and satisfying, despite using weightless weapons. And it is still frantic and challenging, thanks to overwhelming amounts of enemy projectiles, that can turn some fights into a bullet hell. Wind slash ability (where you cut the air to create a damaging projectile in the shape and direction of the cut) is always fun in VR. Enemies are surprisingly varied: the game introduces new types with every act, including 4 unique bosses. However, player's equipment and perks are not as diverse, making every new playthrough feel the same with only magic powers being noticeably different. The game is also rough around the edges: it is quite easy for both monsters and the player to get stuck inside the terrain, sometimes forcing a level reset to fix the situation. And there is a weird bug, where after any text is displayed in the middle of the screen, it leaves a "shadow" for the whole duration of a level.…
Great gane that improves with each update. Lots of fun to be had!
